Marshall Motif A.N.C.: Cult manufacturer enters TWS in-ear business

Musicians in particular are familiar with Marshall’s excellent speakers, but the company has also offered a wide range of headphones for quite some time. However, true wireless in-ear headphones were not available until now. One fills this gap now with the new and noble Marshall Motif ANC.

Individual ANC function

The Marshall Motif A.N.C. represent thereby also the first model of the manufacturer, which offers an active noise cancellation (ANC). In terms of design, they are reminiscent of most current in-ear headphones, but come in the Marshall-typical black look. Especially the lower pins feature a noticeable perforation.

According to the manufacturer, the in-ears are supposed to provide “superior sound in the smallest format”. Marshall uses dynamic drivers with a size of 6 mm, which cover the obligatory frequency range of 20 Hz-20 kHz. The low impedance of only 16 ohms is also particularly striking.

At the same time, the earbuds only weigh 4.25 grams each, while the charging case weighs 39.5 grams. In addition, the new earbuds are protected against water according to IPX5, while the case has an IPX4 certification. The Motif A.N.C. come with earphones and earpads in three sizes, which should provide a good seal even without active noise cancellation, without affecting battery life.

ANC and transparency mode can then be adjusted via the companion app and controlled in multiple levels. There is also the option on the software side to access various equalizer presets to optimize audio quality.

Touch operation and battery life

The Marshall Motif A.N.C. are controlled with the help of touch inputs on the touch-sensitive outer sides. There are no concrete details about the operating concept yet, but music playback and the telephony function are supposed to be controlled comfortably, and it should be possible to switch between the different operating modes.

However, the battery life is somewhat disappointing: 4.5 hours with ANC and 6 hours of music playback without noise cancellation are possible. In combination with the charging case, you get a maximum of 20 hours.

Charging is done either via USB-C or wirelessly, with a full charge taking around 3 hours. Thanks to fast charging, 15 minutes on power will power the Motif A.N.C. for 1 hour of playtime.

Price and Availability

The Marshall Motif A.N.C. will be released on September 30 in Germany and can be pre-ordered now. The manufacturer’s RRP is 199.00 euros. At Amazon they are already listed, but are not yet available for pre-order.
