Mavic 3 Pro: DJI introduces new drone
DJI has presented the Mavic 3 Pro, a new drone that is supposed to score with three cameras and is primarily aimed at interested parties from the film and photography industry. In terms of price, it is also clear that the drone’s target group does not consist of private individuals.
Three cameras and less than a kilogram
The Mavic 3 Pro professional drone is comparatively handy, weighing 958 kilograms with dimensions of 231.1 x 98 x 95.4 mm when folded or 347.5 × 290.8 × 107.7 mm when unfolded. Nevertheless, it comes with a comprehensive set of features. Particularly noteworthy here are the three cameras, which make it clear that the product is aimed at photo and film professionals. Specifically, it is equipped with a Hasselblad camera with a 4/3 CMOS sensor and a resolution of 20 megapixels, a medium telephoto camera with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor and a resolution of 48 megapixels, and a telephoto camera with a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and a resolution of twelve megapixels. The cameras’ viewing distances are 84 and 35 degrees and 15 degrees, respectively. The Hasselblad camera’s aperture is variable in the range of f/2.8 to f/11, while the two telephoto cameras have fixed apertures of f/2.8 and f/3.4, respectively.
Videos can also be recorded by all three cameras. The Hasselblad camera produces footage at 5,120 × 2,700 pixels, while the two telephoto cameras shoot in 4K.
Flexible to use
The Mavic 3 Pro is flexible in its use. For example, it can ascend at speeds of up to 8 m/s, while descending at a maximum of 6 m/s. In the air, the speed is variable up to 21 m/s. The flight altitude is limited to 6,000 meters, and the range is 28 kilometers. The drone can be tilted up to an angle of 35 degrees, withstands winds of up to 12 m/s and can operate in temperatures between -10 and +40 degrees Celsius.
Mavic 3 Pro: price and availability
Available now, DJI’s new drone is priced at €2,099. Those who also want two batteries and a neutral density filter will pay 2,799 euros. In addition, there is the option to order the DJI RC Pro instead of the DJI RC remote control. Then the total package costs 3,499 euros. The Mavic 3 Pro will be delivered from May 5.
The new professional drone is thus significantly more expensive, but also significantly better equipped than the last entry-level model Mini 2 SE, which is primarily aimed at private individuals.
