Merger of Norton and Avast to come

There is a lot going on in the ranks of software companies. While Avast recently bought AVG, the Czech software developer is now being bought up itself. As has become known, the US company Norton has bagged a merger with the company at a purchase price of a whopping 8.6 billion US dollars. This action has agreed to the boards of the two software giants yesterday.

Advantages to be created

Of course, the usual market advantages play a big role in the merger. So Norton and Avast want to throw with their cooperation to the global big player. In view of the broad fanning of offered products this should succeed to the enterprises probably without problems. According to statements by the two company executives, the high quality of cyber security is of course also in mind. After all, the two software providers have a total of 500 million users.

In this regard, Ondřej Vlček (CEO of Avast) expressed himself as follows:

“At a time when global cyber threats are increasing but cyber security penetration is still very low, together with NortonLifeLock we will be able to accelerate our shared vision of providing holistic cyber protection for consumers around the world”

Further, Avast leadership said:

“Our talented teams will have better opportunities to innovate and develop improved solutions and services, with enhanced capabilities through access to superior data insights. With our well-established brands, greater geographic diversification and access to a larger global user base, the combined companies will be able to capitalize on the significant growth opportunities that exist around the world.”

Two headquarters planned

With the merger, however, Avast is by no means set to relocate. Rather, the company will remain in the Czech Republic’s capital, Prague, he said. In addition to this headquarters, the merged company will also be based in Tempe, Arizona (USA). Shareholders of one of the two companies will also be pleased to hear that the merger will be followed by a listing on NASDAQ.
