Meta is significantly expanding its business model and introducing new Meta subscriptions for its most important platforms. In addition to paid Plus subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, the company is also launching initial tests for AI subscriptions and professional packages for creators and companies under the new Meta One umbrella brand.
With this step, the Group is further expanding its monetization strategy beyond traditional advertising revenue. The new functions are intended to offer additional personalization, advanced analysis tools and, in future, more powerful AI features.
- New Plus subscriptions: Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus launch worldwide
- Meta One is coming: New AI and business subscriptions are already in initial test phases
- Additional functions: More personalization, story insights and advanced analytics options
- Meta Verified remains: The existing verification model will continue to run in parallel
Meta subscriptions add exclusive premium features to Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp
With the new Meta Subscriptions, the company is introducing a broad-based consumer subscription system for its most important apps for the first time. In future, users will be able to choose between Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus for 3.99 US dollars per month each and WhatsApp Plus for 2.99 US dollars per month.
The new offers are aimed at intensive users who want more control and additional functions within the platforms. On Instagram, more detailed story insights are available, among other things. This includes an aggregated display of how often a story has been viewed again, as well as the option to create unlimited individual target group lists.
The subscription also allows stories to be displayed for longer than the traditional 24 hours. Other functions include the discreet preview of story content without appearing in the viewer list, a search function within the story views and exclusive profile customizations such as additional pins, individual fonts and alternative app icons.
Facebook Plus focuses on similar social features and is aimed in particular at users who want to personalize their presence more. WhatsApp Plus, on the other hand, takes a different approach. The focus here is on customization and messaging convenience, including user-defined themes, additional pinned chats, premium stickers and customized ringtones.
Importantly, these new subscriptions do not replace the existing Meta Verified program. The verification solution remains standalone and continues to focus on identity protection, verification badges and prioritized support.
Meta subscriptions form the basis for Meta One and upcoming AI services
Even more exciting than the new consumer subscriptions are the extensions announced under the new Meta One label. In future, Meta will bundle all premium offerings here, including AI subscriptions as well as professional Creator and Business plans.
The company is initially testing two tariffs for the AI area: Meta One Plus for 7.99 US dollars per month and Meta One Premium for 19.99 US dollars. Both offer access to additional AI performance, with the Premium model providing more computing capacity for complex queries.
This applies in particular to more sophisticated reasoning processes, more extensive image generation and extended video functions within the Meta cosmos. The model thus clearly follows the market trend of large AI platforms, where additional services are monetized via tiered subscription models.
At the same time, Meta is testing professional tariffs for creators and companies. The Meta One Essential Plan starts at USD 14.99 per month and includes verification, protection against identity fraud and extended link sheets for external platforms.
The significantly more comprehensive Meta One Advanced Plan for 49.99 US dollars also offers algorithmic visibility benefits, improved analysis functions, automated follower invitations, optimized planning tools and team access for account moderators.
The regional test strategy seems plausible: AI subscriptions will initially be launched in smaller markets such as Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia, while business functions will initially be tested in selected growth markets.
With the new Meta subscriptions, Meta is positioning itself more clearly than ever as a platform provider with tiered premium ecosystems. The pricing structure is in line with the expected market environment, while the AI plans indicate a long-term monetization of performance-intensive features. The global launch of Plus subscriptions is already underway, with further Meta One offers to follow gradually in the coming weeks and months.
