Microlino: Small electric car goes into series production

The Microlino, a new small electric car, will soon be on the road. As the manufacturer has revealed, the lively two-seater will go into series production. However, the Pioneer series is limited to 999 units.

Microlino series production picks up speed

At the Geneva Motor Show, the manufacturer showed a first prototype of the Microlino, which caused a stir. Around two years ago, the e-small car was further developed and reached series production readiness, and now series production is finally set to start.

However, the Pioneer series, which is limited to 999 units, will first give a chance to customers who have invested in the project since 2016. The Microlino will be manufactured in Turin, Italy.

This is a small and few electric car designed for urban transport. It offers two seats and space for three beer crates – at least that’s what they write on the homepage. At the same time, it is supposed to shine especially in narrow cities due to its compact dimensions.

Microlino is really small

2.52 meters long, 1.47 meters wide and 1.51 m high is the Microlino and is to find thereby comfortably in each parking bay place place. When parked crosswise, it is therefore said to take up only a third of the space required by a normal car.

The vehicle, which weighs just 513 kg, is equipped with a 12.5 kW engine with a torque of 89 NM. It can reach a top speed of 90 km/h. It accelerates from a standstill to 50 km/h in 5.0 seconds. There are three battery variants to choose from, offering six, 10.5 or 14 kWh capacity. This enables ranges of 91 km, 177 km or up to 230 km.

It is classified according to category L7e and is charged “like a smartphone” at a normal household socket. The Microlino is said to be fully charged in around four hours. It also has a sunroof and offers a total of 220 liters of passenger space. The doors open to the front in this case.

Prices and availability

The Microlino starts at a base price of 12,500 euros. Reservations are available now through the manufacturer’s website. It is currently unclear when production and deliveries will take place.

Alternatively, there is also a little sister called Microletta, which is a three-wheeled e-scooter. It gets up to 80 km/h and starts from 4,900 euros.
