Microsoft has revealed that Microsoft Office 2021 will be released on the same day as Windows 11, without any subscription obligation and with the Dark Mode already known from Office 365. Companies with the appropriate license can already download Microsoft Office LTSC 2021.
Microsoft Office 2021 on 05 October
The current Microsoft Office 2019 will finally be replaced by a real successor. Unlike the subscription service Office 365, the new version will finally be offered again completely without subscription compulsion, they have now confirmed in a blog entry.
Microsoft Office 2021 will be released at the same time as Windows 11 on October 05, 2021 and will be compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11 and macOS. A 32-bit version for Windows users will also be available. In the process, Office 2021 will initially launch in six products aimed at home users, freelancers and small businesses:
- Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021
- Microsoft Office Home and Business 2021
- Microsoft Visio Standard 2021
- Microsoft Visio Professional 2021
- Microsoft Project Standard 2021
- Microsoft Project Professional 2021
In the process, Microsoft Office 2021 has inherited the dark mode from Office 365 and will have a new default font for the first time since 2007: So the days of Calibri are numbered. Via Twitter, Microsoft collected feedback from users, who could choose one of five new fonts. We will soon find out which font has finally been chosen.
Microsoft Office LTSC 2021 already available
Meanwhile, company administrators are already able to download Microsoft Office LTSC 2021 and distribute the new version to users. The following licenses are currently available for Windows 10 and Windows 11:
