The Minisforum UM750 Neo is a new mini PC that features an unusual processor: the AMD Ryzen Z1, known from gaming handhelds such as the Asus ROG Ally. Minisforum is thus using a chip—originally developed for handheld consoles—in a traditional desktop case. We’ve summarized the specifications, prices, and availability.

Ryzen Z1 Instead of a Traditional Laptop CPU

The Ryzen Z1 was originally introduced in September 2023 in the Asus ROG Ally, where it was designed to deliver the most efficient gaming performance possible in a compact form factor. Technically, the chip differs very little from regular AMD mobile processors for laptops. Theoretically, the UM750 Neo could be equipped similarly with a standard Ryzen mobile processor; in everyday use, the difference would be barely noticeable. Minisforum is therefore using the Z1 more as a marketing hook than as a technical selling point.

Specifically, the Ryzen Z1 offers six cores and twelve threads with a clock speed of up to 4.9 GHz, plus integrated Radeon graphics with RDNA 3 architecture and 4 compute units. As of now, there are no plans for a more powerful variant featuring the Ryzen Z1 Extreme (8 cores/16 threads, 12 compute units) for the UM750 Neo.

For cooling, Minisforum relies on PCM (Phase Change Material) technology, which, according to the manufacturer, is designed to keep noise levels below 40 dB even under load. The USB4 port also supports Power Delivery with 65 to 100 watts of input power and 15 watts of output power, meaning it can even be used to power a laptop.

Price and Availability

The Minisforum UM750 Neo is available in two configurations: The version with a 500 GB SSD normally costs 609 euros, while the 1 TB model costs 699 euros. Minisforum is currently offering a 20 percent discount, bringing the prices down to 489 euros and 559 euros, respectively. According to the manufacturer, shipping is scheduled to begin in late September 2026; buyers from the EU receive free shipping, including a return option, as well as a two-year warranty.

Conclusion

The Ryzen Z1 thus makes the leap from handheld to desktop, but offers no measurable advantage over a standard laptop processor. For those looking for a compact mini-PC for office work, multitasking, and video conferencing, the UM750 Neo still offers solid specs at a fair price.
