Moto G22: Motorola introduces budget smartphone for 170 euros

Motorola attacks the budget class in the Android segment with the Moto G22. For around 170 Euros, the 6.5-inch smartphone offers a frame rate of 90 Hz, a quad camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery.

With the budget smartphone Moto G22, Motorola presents the exact counterpart to the recently unveiled flagship Edge 30 Pro and offers technical features that are impressive on paper in the Android entry-level segment.

Specifically, the G22 relies on a 6.5-inch HD+ LC display with a frame rate of 90 Hz and a resolution of only 1,600 x 720 pixels, which thus comes to a pixel density of 268 PPI. The Moto G22 measures 163.95 x 74.94 x 8.49 mm (height x width x depth) and weighs 185 grams.

However, you have to accept some compromises in terms of the installed processor. The MediaTek Helio G37 is used, which has eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores. Four of them work with a clock rate of 2.3 GHz, the other four only reach 1.8 GHz. The GE8230 GPU with 680 MHz, as well as only 4 GB of working memory are also due to the price.

In addition, there is a choice of 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1 TB via microSD card. On the other hand, the battery capacity is generous. The battery has a full 5,000 mAh and is charged via USB Type-C with a maximum of 15 watts. A 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones, a fingerprint scanner in the side power button, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC round off the features.

Another equipment highlight of the Motorola Moto G22 is the quad camera on the back. It consists of a 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8), an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with an angle of view of 118 degrees (f/2.2), as well as a 2 MP depth camera and a 2 MP macro camera. The G22 records videos in Full HD resolution at a maximum of 30 frames per second.

On the front sits a selfie cam with a resolution of 16 megapixels in a centrally placed punch hole, which turns out to be conditionally fast with an aperture of f/2.45.

Price and availability

The Motorola Moto G22 is expected to be available in this country shortly, but the official website does not give a specific date yet. The budget smartphone will be offered in three colors: Iceberg Blue, Cosmic Black and Pearl White. The manufacturer’s RRP is 169.99 Euros.
