Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and Razr 2022 to be unveiled soon
Motorola has released a whole plethora of new smartphones this year. At the beginning of the year, they introduced two strong devices with the Edge 30 Pro and Edge 30, followed by cheaper mid-range models like G52 or G82 5G. However, they still have two really hot irons in the fire for the fall: the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra (also known as the X30 Pro), as well as the new foldable Razr 2022, both of which will be unveiled in early August.
Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and Razr 2022 have launch date
Even before Samsung unveils its new Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 foldable smartphones on August 10, it’s Motorola’s turn. As the company has now revealed on social network weibo they will unveil the new Motorla Razr 2022 and the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra known as X30 Pro in early August.
More specifically, the launch event will rise on August 02 at 7:30 p.m. Chinese time, where both smartphones will be presented to the public. The new and revised mobile operating system MyUI 4.0 will also play an important role at the presentation.
Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: What to expect
The X30 Pro, which will presumably be offered here as Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, is the manufacturer’s new flagship. Technically, it is once again clearly positioned above the Edge 30 Pro from February.
Concrete details are still scarce, but it is supposed to be equipped with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, just like the Razr 2022 foldable smartphone. Other leaks and rumors speak of up to 12 GB LPDDR5 working memory and a 6.74-inch P-OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
Chen Jin, general manager of Lenovo Mobile, also posted on weibo an image confirming the Edge 30 Ultra’s power supply and associated 125-watt charging speed. The capacity of the battery is said to be 4,500 mAh.
Impressive cameras
Much more so, the X30 Pro is said to position itself as a camera flagship, taking on the likes of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. Besides a 60-megapixel front camera, the main camera is supposed to use Samsung’s Isocell HP1 sensor with a resolution of 200 megapixels. According to current rumors, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12 MP telephoto lens will also be added.
The focal lengths of the rear cameras are also unusual. The wide-angle camera is said to offer a focal length of 35 mm (35 mm equivalent) – significantly smaller than the otherwise common 23-28 mm of normal smartphone cameras.
In addition, there is a classic “Nifty Fifty” focal length of 50 mm for the main camera, as well as a focal length of 85 mm, which is considered the ideal portrait focal length in photography.
Motorola Razr 2022 shows off in video
A first teaser video also shows off the Motorola Razr 2022 foldable smartphone, which is rumored to rely on a 6.7-inch P-OLED display that also resolves at FHD+ and offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The size of the outer display is said to have increased to 3-inches. Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is supposed to be used as the SoC. There is also talk of 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.
As for the cameras, there is talk of a 32 MP front-facing camera, as well as a dual camera on the back, consisting of a main sensor with 50 megapixels and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Again, Chen Jin had just recently shown the foldable on stage via weibo.
The new Razr is also expected to be significantly cheaper than its predecessor, with a price tag of around 1,150 euros. So it won’t take too much longer until the rumors are confirmed. The foldable and the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra will be officially unveiled at the launch event next week.
