After Samsung presented the two new foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 alongside new smartwatches and Earbuds on August 10, Motorola wants to follow suit one day later. Besides the X30 Pro, the new foldable model is also to be unveiled. However, there was already a side hustle in advance: The Motorola Razr 2022 price turns out to be significantly lower than that of the competition.
Motorola Razr 2022 price vs. Galaxy Z Flip4
Even before the new foldable smartphone is presented to the public today, the manufacturer could not pass up a small side blow to the direct competitor Samsung.
Among other things, the South Koreans had presented the comparable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 yesterday, which will be offered from 1,099 Euros in this country and will be released on August 26, 2022. In China, the smartphone will be offered at a UVP of 8,499 yuan.
The Motorola Razr 2022 undercuts this price significantly once again, at least in China, as the manufacturer has now revealed on the social network Weibo – shortly after Samsung’s announcement.
According to the report, the new foldable will start from as low as 5,999 yuan in the basic version, which is equivalent to around 865 euros. However, it can be assumed that the final price for the European market will be a bit higher. However, the foldable smartphone will probably also be cheaper than the Z Flip4 in this country.
Motorola Razr 2022: Also technically ahead?
However, if you take a look at all the leaks so far, not only does the Motorola Razr 2022 price turn out to be cheaper, the price-performance ratio also seems more attractive. At least, if the rumors prove true.
However, some details are already certain because the Chinese store JD.com already lists the new Razr for pre-order (with a placeholder price) and reveals some specifications. According to the listing, the Motorola foldable smartphone relies on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 that is used in the Samsung model.
Larger secondary display
The 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display is also shared by both smartphones, while the secondary display on the outside is significantly larger on Motorola at 2.7 inches (compared to 1.9 inches on the Samsung model). In addition, the secondary display, at least according to the first teaser image, offers significantly more possibilities for displaying content than the cover screen of the Samsung foldable smartphone.
The Motorola Razr 2022 also offers a refresh rate of 144 Hz (compared to 120 Hz), but in return it only has a 3,500 mAh battery (3,700 mAh on the Z Flip4), but it can be fast-charged at a maximum of 33 watts (compared to 25 watts on the Samsung foldable).
More megapixels for the cameras
The Motorola Razr 2022 is also ahead in the camera setup, at least on paper. On offer are a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, a 13-MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a selfie camera with 32 megapixels.
For comparison: In Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip4, the manufacturer combines two 12-megapixel cameras on the back, which are supposed to be based on the Galaxy S21 series. The front-facing camera clearly falls short with 10 megapixels.
More work and system memory?
The Z Flip4 is offered in each case with 8 GB of RAM and a choice of 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage. The Motorola Razr 2022, on the other hand, is expected to be offered with at least 128 GB of system and 8 GB of RAM, with up to 18 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage in prospect.
We will probably find out the full specifications of the Motorola Razr 2022 and Motorola X30 Pro, which relies on a 200-megapixel camera, in the course of August 11 when the manufacturer unveils both new smartphones.
