Motorola already presented its impressive Space Charging technology at the CES at the beginning of the year. This has now been further refined and offers the possibility to charge up to four smartphones simultaneously – and even from up to three meters away from the charging pad.
Increased range
Originally, only two smartphones could be wirelessly charged at a time using Motorola’s Space Charging technology, but now the number has increased to four. Charging even works when users hold the smartphone in their hands and use it for surfing, playing games or making phone calls.
The range has also been further increased. While devices were originally only allowed to be one meter away from the charger, a maximum range of three meters is now possible.
Paper, leather or other materials should not affect the charging process, so smartphones with protective covers should also be able to be charged without problems. However, Motorola Space Charging is more exciting for the future because the technology is not yet used in any commercially available smartphones.

It is still unclear how high the charging speed will be. Leaker Digital Chat Station speaks of a maximum power of 5 watts. The corresponding space charging charger is equipped with a total of 1,600 antennas. Smartphones that are at an angle of 100 degrees in front of the charging station can be charged.
