With the next generation of desktop processors, maximum performance is once again becoming the focus of modern PC systems. MSI is therefore presenting new motherboards from the 800 series, which are specially designed for the upcoming Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus processors. The aim is to exploit the full performance potential of the new CPU architecture and at the same time offer stable, high-performance platforms for gaming, content creation and high-end PC builds. The combination of modern hybrid CPU technology and optimized motherboard architecture promises higher clock rates, lower latencies and a noticeable increase in performance compared to the previous generation.

  • New MSI 800 series motherboards (Z890, B860, H810) for Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus
  • Up to 24 cores and clock speeds of up to 5.5 GHz for the new desktop processors
  • Improved gaming performance of up to 15% compared to previous Intel Core Ultra desktop models
  • Support for faster DDR5 RAM up to 7200 MT/s and modern interfaces

Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus: More cores, higher clock speeds and optimized gaming performance

The new Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus processor series marks a further step in Intel’s desktop strategy for high-performance systems. The first models include the Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus as well as the Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus and Intel Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus variants.

The CPUs continue to rely on a hybrid architecture of performance and efficiency cores. A total of up to 24 cores are possible – divided into eight performance cores and sixteen efficiency cores. Additional efficiency cores benefit multitasking scenarios, streaming workflows or parallel background processes in particular.

The clock rates are also increasing further. The new processors reach up to 5.5 GHz and offer a clock increase of around 200 MHz for the performance cores and around 100 MHz for the efficiency cores compared to the previous generation. This is complemented by an additional 6 MB Intel Smart Cache on certain models and increased bandwidth between the chiplets.

These technical improvements are particularly effective in the gaming sector. According to the manufacturer, internal tests show an average performance increase of up to 15 percent in 1080p gaming scenarios compared to previous desktop processors in the same class. At the same time, the supported memory speed increases from DDR5-6400 to DDR5-7200, which can accelerate particularly memory-intensive applications.

MSI 800 series mainboards: Platform for high-end PCs and gaming systems

In order to fully exploit the potential of the new processors, MSI is launching several 800 series motherboards on the market. The focus is particularly on the MSI MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WIFI II, which offers a combination of stable power supply and modern connectivity.

The ATX mainboard relies on a 16-phase duet rail power system, which is designed to deliver stable voltages even under high loads. The platform is complemented by the latest interfaces such as PCIe 5.0, Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G LAN. This makes the board suitable for both gaming PCs and high-performance workstations.

For professional users, the MSI PRO Z890-S WIFI6E W is aimed at systems with a focus on stability and productivity. It combines the Z890 chipset with a 12-phase power design and modern connectivity such as Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5G LAN and fast USB Type-C ports.

The compact MSI B860M GAMING PLUS WIFI6E in Micro-ATX format is positioned in the mainstream segment. Despite its smaller form factor, it offers a robust power system, Wi-Fi 6E and fast network options. This makes the model particularly suitable for compact gaming PCs.

Another focus of the new boards is on easy installation. The so-called EZ-DIY design from MSI integrates functions such as tool-free M.2 assembly, simplified GPU unlocking or easy-to-install Wi-Fi antennas. This allows systems to be assembled or upgraded more quickly.

Conclusion

With support for the new Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus processors, MSI is expanding its motherboard platform for high-performance desktop systems. The combination of higher clock rates, more cores and faster DDR5 memory ensures noticeable performance gains in gaming and productivity applications. MSI 800 series motherboards are already compatible and form the technical basis for upcoming high-end PC builds. Prices vary depending on the model, while further motherboard variants for the new processor series have already been announced.
