MSI: Mini-LED workstation “Creator 17” with Tiger Lake H processor in the future

The mobile mini-LED workstation Creator 17 from MSI will be offered with processors from the Tiger-Lake-H series as well as with graphics cards from Nvidia’s RTX-3000 series. Visually, there is little change to the device.

Latest processors and graphics cards

The main innovations concern the workstation’s interior: MSI will break new ground in the future both in terms of the installed processors and graphics cards. Thus, Tiger Lake H processors are to be used in the latest model. It is not yet known exactly which ones will be available, but it can be assumed that they will be eight-core processors. Furthermore, the new workstation model will be equipped with graphics cards from the RTX-300 series. The GeForce RTX 3060, GeForce RTX 3070 and GeForce RTX 3080 models will be available, offering 6, 8 and 16 GB of graphics memory, respectively.

The update aims to significantly increase the performance of the device. For example, the processor performance is said to be about 30 percent higher than the previously installed one. The graphics cards are also said to be significantly more powerful than their predecessors.

Furthermore, a PCIe 4.0 x 4 M.2 as well as a PCIe 3.0 x 4 M.2 SSD and up to 64 GB DDR4 working memory are found inside. In addition, there is an infrared webcam compatible with Windows Hello, two stereo speakers, a fingerprint sensor, and a 99.9 Wh battery.

Externally hardly any innovations

Externally, however, hardly anything will change on the workstation. Thus, the device still has a 17.3-inch display that resolves in 4K and reaches a brightness of just under 1,000 nits. The display also continues to cover the entire DCI-P3 color space, has an LED backlight and complies with the DisplayHDR-1000 standard.

The connectivity offered is said to be equally impressive: the device is equipped with a Thunderbolt 4, a USB-C 3.2 Gen.2, a USB-A and an HDMI 2.1 port, has an SD card reader, an Ethernet port and a slot for headphones.
