With the Optix MAG301CR, MSI has introduced a new 30-inch monitor in 21:9 format, which is primarily aimed at gamers.
The monitor is equipped with a curved VA panel, which is comparatively strongly curved at 1500R. The resolution is 2,560 x 1,080 pixels. Since it is a gaming monitor, it offers a refresh rate of 200 Hertz and a response time of one millisecond. To prevent tearing effects, AMD FreeSync is also supported.
The contrast ratio of the Optix MAG301CR is 3000:1, MSI reports 127 percent coverage of the sRGB color space and 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. The monitor is therefore also well suited for consuming media other than games. Unfortunately, however, it is only HDR Ready and not HDR certified, which is due to the relatively low maximum brightness of 300 cd/m².
Unusual for a 21:9 monitor is that it supports pivot. So it can be turned 90 degrees in both directions. The monitor can also be tilted by -5 to +20 degrees and pivoted by -30 to +30 degrees. The height adjustment allows changes of 13 centimetres.
The MSI Optix MAG301CR can be connected via HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort or USB-C. Additionally, a USB-A-Hub (2 ports) as well as an AUX port for headphones or speakers are available.
MSI has not yet given any information about price or availability.
