MSI Optix MPG321URDE-QD: Gaming monitor with Quantum Dot technology

MSI has released an exciting new gaming monitor just in time for gamescom 2022. The MSI Optix MPG321URDE-QD is a 144Hz 4K monitor that utilizes HDMI 2.1, HDR, and Quantum Dot technology. Thanks to this equipment, the device is able to produce images with significantly more details and a wider color scheme than conventional monitors.

The MSI Optix MPG321URDE-QD offers a screen diagonal of 32 inches (81.28 cm) and relies on a flat IPS panel along with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels in 16:9 format. It typically gets 400 nits bright and reaches up to 600 nits at its peak, which earns it a DisplayHDR 600 certification.

Dynamically, the contrast even regulates up to a ratio of 100,000,000:1, while the refresh rate is a fast 144 Hz and the gray-to-grey response time is 4 ms. The surface is matte, which prevents reflections.

In addition, the monitor offers a color depth of 10 bits and provides particularly intense colors thanks to Quantum Dot technology. Quantum Dots are nanocrystals that can absorb light. When they are hit by light, they emit a very precise color and deliver realistic images.

Gaming Features and Software

The MSI Optix MPG321URDE-QD is naturally aimed at gamers and therefore fits gamescom 2022. Here, the manufacturer offers various software solutions, such as Smart Crosshair and Night Vision AI, which can be conveniently adjusted via the OSD settings.

These are supplemented by further gaming features. Among them is a KVM 3.0 switch that allows connecting peripherals directly to the monitor. With the console mode, you can enjoy games that have 120Hz support in their full glory thanks to the HDMI 2.1 port.

And that includes Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Smart Brightness, because the monitor can automatically detect the ambient light in the room and adjust the screen’s brightness to the appropriate level.

2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 1.4a, once USB Type-C and a 3.5 mm jack are offered. Besides that, a comprehensive USB hub is available, which consists of three USB 2.0 Type-B and six USB 2.0 Type-A ports.
