N26 Spaces can now be linked to cards and sub-accounts

Neobank N26 has released an interesting new feature for the premium accounts N26 Smart, N26 You and N26 Metal, which has long been at the top of users’ wish lists. From now on, the sub-accounts (called Spaces at N26) can be directly linked to cards.

Premium accounts from N26 with new feature

Neobank N26 is repeatedly criticized. Most recently, termless account terminations made negative headlines, which were carried out without justification. Any residual credit was also sometimes simply withheld without giving any reason.

Who however still belongs to the paying customers of the bank, may be pleased about a new function, which was desired for a long time. The premium models N26 Smart, N26 You and N26 Metal now allow you to link Spaces to your card and charge it directly.

As an N26 Bank customer, you can create up to 10 Spaces. Sub-accounts that you can use freely for specific things. Be it to finance a trip or the like. Until now, however, card payments were always debited from the main account.

So if you wanted to use money from a certain Space, you first had to transfer it to the main account, from which it could then be debited. This detour is now no longer necessary, because customers can assign cards to the Spaces themselves, with which the sub-accounts are debited directly.

You can assign physical and virtual cards to each Space in the settings. However, this currently apparently only applies to normal sub-accounts and not to the so-called Shared Spaces.

In May of last year, N26 Bank converted the Spaces into real sub-accounts. Each individual account then has an individual IBAN, making payments by direct debit and SEPA transfers possible. With the new assignment of cards, optionally even individually for each Space separately, one goes now thus again a step further.

However, as mentioned, this only works with the premium models. N26 Smart costs 4.90 euros per month, while N26 You costs 9.90 euros per month. N26 Metal, on the other hand, costs 16.90 euros per month. You can see the differences between the models – clearly laid out – on the bank’s website.
