Nerva Exe: electric scooter from Spain presented

Electromobility of the future on two wheels?

When classic combustion engines become a thing of the past in our road traffic, we may have to deal with another problem. Where to put all the cars? Small electric vehicles such as electric scooters are therefore probably the best long-term solution for the masses to avoid space problems. One example of how you don’t have to sacrifice a fun driving experience in the process is the Nerva Exe. This two-seater scooter is supposed to be a guarantee for a lot of driving fun.

Nerva wants to install a powerful motor in its sporty two-wheeler, which should help the electric scooter reach remarkable top speeds. A proud 9 kW may not sound like much. However, since such a scooter weighs little, this power is already enough to accelerate the Nerva Exe to 50 km/h within 4.5 seconds. A total of up to 125 km/h is said to be possible. Of course, that doesn’t sound anything like a motorcycle from Moto GP. But compared to other electric scooters, it is already remarkable what the Spanish manufacturer wants to put on the legs or wheels.

Old battery technology

As befits an electric vehicle, the Nerva Exe also has a comfortable technical features. The most striking feature is the pretty display with a size of 5 inches. Here you should be able to see the most important information about the current trip. However, everything is not supposed to be digital. In addition to the display, Nerva actually installs a classic speedometer based on analog technology, which is supposed to display the speed.

If the Spaniards had opted to install more modern battery technology, there would probably have been more in it for the electric scooter’s performance. However, Nerva installs a classic lithium-iron-phosphate battery, which gets in the way of top speeds due to its heavy weight. The manufacturer installs one of the 2.88 kWh batteries per wheel. Together, these should allow a range of about 90 km, according to the manufacturer.

Endurance winner

Due to the heavy batteries, the Nerva Exe is said to weigh in at a whopping 202 kg. But the choice of battery technology has not only disadvantages for buyers of the scooter. For example, the Exe would have been less heavy if a lithium-ion battery had been installed, but it would also have been less sustainable. After all, batteries based on lithium iron phosphate bring decisive advantages in terms of endurance.

The scooter is said to be able to travel a total of 540,000 kilometers on just one battery before it needs to be replaced with a new one. This is made possible by a total of 6,000 charging cycles, which Nerva promises. In terms of charging times, the result looks rather poor again. To charge this completely, one should need about 4 hours and 20 minutes with the associated 1.8 kW charger.

Price and availability

Unfortunately, we don’t really know yet what the Nerva Exe will cost. If you subtract the government subsidy in Spain, you end up with a price of 3,380 euros. How much the scooter will cost in this country, on the other hand, we can only speculate. On top of that, the Spanish company wants to charge a monthly rent for the battery. However, the amount is also still unclear.
