Newsletter feature coming to WhatsApp?

There is news from WhatsApp. Apparently, the developers of the messenger from tech company Meta are working on a new feature. This is to enable the creation of private newsletters.

As a user of WhatsApp, you get the feeling that something only changes once in a blue moon. Except for a few small visual adjustments, the Messenger still looks the same as it did a few years ago. This also applies to the operation of the meta-messenger. Only over time were options like group chats slowly but surely added to Messenger. But 2023 could turn out to be the year of big changes for WhatsApp. For example, the developers implemented the option to link an account with multiple numbers only in January. Currently, rumors are piling up that another feature will be added to the messenger. With version 2.23.5.3, according to WaBetaInfo, a new newsletter function could find its way into Messenger. According to the beta release experts, this is currently still under development.

New tab for new feature

WaBetaInfo claims to have found out that with the newsletter feature, an entirely new tab could be implemented in WhatsApp’s interface. Whether this will finally be called a newsletter or get another name is still unknown. What is certain is that the functionality is reminiscent of a private newsletter. As a single person, you should be able to send information to several people. It is possible that users will be able to choose which contacts they want to follow and which they do not. The information that the peer-to-peer encryption of normal chats will remain untouched should be important for privacy fans. The newsletter feature, on the other hand, is not supposed to be protected by this encryption. However, this is not surprising, since it would hardly make sense from a technical point of view. We are curious to see if the speculations prove to be true.
