Nio ET7: Electric car with exchangeable battery to be launched in Germany in Q4

The manufacturer had already presented the Nio ET7 electric sedan in January 2021. Now there is finally a launch date for Germany. In the 4th quarter of 2022, the electric car of the “Chinese Tesla” with over 1,000 range should finally appear in this country.

Nio ET7 is coming to Germany

“Germany is Nio’s next market,” Nio manager Hui Zhang revealed to Automobilwoche magazine. The Chinese are also trying to gain a foothold in this country with the Nio ET7. The smaller ET5 and the SUV ES7 are likely to follow later.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, it should then also be ready in Germany, other European countries should follow, reveals Zhang. Like its competitors, Nio had also been struggling with sharp price increases. After liquidity problems at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company is now back on track financially and has “about eight billion dollars in cash” at its disposal, Zhang continues.

Fancy electric sedan comes with removable battery

The Nio ET7 is an electrically powered sedan with 480 kW of power that can realize a range of over 1,000 kilometers. With a length of 5.1 meters, a wheelbase of 3.06 meters and a width of 1.99 meters, the sedan offers plenty of space.

In the interior, a tidy cockpit furnished with fine materials aims to create a cozy feeling “like a second home”. The interior of the ET7 combines futuristic technology and modern design. The floating displays, two-tone two-spoke steering wheel and invisible smart air vents create an elegant, comfortable atmosphere.

Inside, the ET7 also focuses on sustainability. The non-wood material Karuun is created from rattan and is found in 14 elements of the interior. “Each element symbolizes the beauty of nature. Each has a unique texture,” writes the manufacturer.

Also on offer is an AI called NOMI. It is constantly evolving, becoming smarter and so understands you better over time. With four microphone groups and a special NPU core, NOMI now has voice recognition with exact voice localization to enable seamless interaction.

Another special feature: the 150 kWh battery comes with a special NIO Power removable battery system. NIO Power is a mobile, Internet-based charging solution with a wide-ranging network for recharging and swapping batteries.

The batteries can also be quickly and easily swapped on the go at exchange stations, the NIO Power Swap Stations. These are to be launched in Germany by the end of the year, as the manufacturer already revealed in April 2022. The complete exchange of the battery takes just under 5 minutes.

A concrete launch date for the Nio ET7 has not yet been set for the German market. Pricing for the electric sedan is also still open at present.
