With the Noctua NH-L9a-AM5, the manufacturer has introduced a new low-profile cooler that is supposed to keep the new AMD Ryzen processors with 65 watts in check. They come with a height of only 37 millimeters.
The Noctua NH-L9a-AM5 in detail
The new low-profile CPU cooler Noctua NH-L9a-AM5 is aimed, as the name suggests, at the new AMD Ryzen processors with AM5 socket. Of course, Noctua already offers corresponding solutions for AM3 and AM4 boards.
The new NH-L9a-AM5 is offered in various brown tones, as is typical for the manufacturer, or as a completely black chromax.black variant.
“AMD’s just-launched 65W Ryzen processors are ideal for compact yet powerful systems, and our new NH-L9a-AM5 is the perfect cooler for them. It easily cools the new 7900, 7700 and 7600 models at whisper-quiet speed settings and offers sufficient power reserves in case customers want to run them at more than 65W,” reveals Noctua CEO Roland Mossig. One has already reached up to 130 watts with the Ryzen 7950X and 7900X itself, Mossig continues.
Slim design is also suitable for small builds
At the same time, the Noctua NH-L9a-AM5 relies on a particularly low height of only 37 millimeters and thus fits even in small and narrow cases thanks to its compact footprint. And it does so with full compatibility with tall memory modules and PCIe cards.
Thanks to the SecuFirm2 mounting system for AM5, installation should also be child’s play. To keep the CPU in check even under full load, the manufacturer installs an NF-A9x14 premium fan with PWM support. An automatic speed control is also offered, which enables quiet operation.
The renowned NT-H1 thermal compound is also included. With the help of the optional NA-FD1 air guide set, the gap between the fan and the perforated side or top part of the case can also be bridged in Small Form Factor (SFF) cases.
This ensures that the cooler no longer draws in warm air from inside the case, but only draws fresh air from the outside. Depending on the system, this is said to reduce the CPU’s temperature by up to five degrees Celsius.
