Nubia Redmagic 7S Pro unveiled: Gaming smartphone with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

The gaming smartphone Redmagic 7 Pro from April gets an update. Today, the manufacturer introduced the Nubia Redmagic 7S Pro, which comes in new colors and with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The built-in Magic GPU has also been improved for even more performance.

The Nubia Redmagic 7S Pro in detail

Nubia updates its gaming smartphone flagship. The new Nubia Redmagic 7S Pro is powered by the latest high-end SoC from Qualcomm, namely the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The manufacturer promises a 30 percent increase in CPU power efficiency and 10 percent higher GPU clock speeds as a result.

The CPU offers clock rates of up to 3.2 GHz, and the new chip reduces the smartphone’s power consumption by 30 percent at the same time. Of course, the dedicated gaming chip Red Core 1 is also used again.

It is responsible for processing audio content, RGB lighting and haptic feedback so that the Snapdragon can fully concentrate on the computing power of mobile games. The built-in Magic GPU has also been improved and should now realize a 60 percent more stable frame rate, thanks to three core aspects.

At the same time, the cooling system has been improved. The 7S now features ICE 10.0 made of new material and a high-speed fan with 10,000 rpm. The smartphone’s dual shoulder triggers now offer a touch rate of 520 Hz compared to 500 Hz in the 7 Pro. These are now said to offer a better gaming experience with a response time of 7.4 ms.

What else is in the Nubia Redmagic 7S Pro?

In addition, the Redmagic 7S Pro comes in new colors along with a transparent design. Globally, the smartphone appears in Obsidian and Mercury, which also comes with a new RAM and storage lineup.

The Obisidan model offers 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 system storage, while the Mercury variant in a transparent gray shade even offers 18 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage – the 7 Pro previously offered a maximum of 16 GB of RAM.

The Nubia Redmagic 7S Pro uses a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and offers a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. Under the motto “Armored for Victory”, the touch refresh rate now adjusts between 480 Hz and up to 960 Hz, which should ensure more stable frame rates and better energy efficiency.

Dual speakers offer DTS surround sound, while the jack port has been given a new position that should allow for a more comfortable position when gaming. The revised Redmagic OS 5.5 based on Android 12 is used as the operating system.

The RGB lighting lets the smartphone shine in 16.8 million colors and offers 4,096 brightness levels. Furthermore, individual lighting effects and symmetrical layouts can be set. In addition, the lighting can be synchronized with the sound for more immersion.

The cameras, battery and more

When it comes to the camera setup, the Nubia Redmagic 7S Pro relies on a triple camera at the back. It’s made up of a 64-megapixel main camera (f/1.79), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2) and a 2MP sensor. The front camera again takes up space, invisibly, under the display and resolves with 16 megapixels.

The smartphone measures 166.27 mm x 77.1 mm x 9.98 mm and weighs 235 grams. It is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery that can be charged quickly with a maximum of 65 watts. The necessary 65-watt GaN charger is already included. Also on offer are Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.2 NFC, USB Type-C, a 3.5 mm jack and an improved fingerprint sensor.

Price and Availability

The Nubia Redmagic 7S Pro will officially go on sale on August 09, 2022. From August 02 to August 08, however, there will be a special Early Bird promotion, but no details are available yet.

The price starts at an MSRP of 779 Euros for the Obsidian model with 12 GB RAM + 256 GB. The 7S Pro in Mercury and Supernova with 18 GB RAM and 512 GB storage starts at 949 Euros. More details are available on the official product website.
