Nvidia RTX 5080 Super and RTX 5070 Ti Super: Leak Suggests High Power Consumption

Seasonic’s power supply calculator has quietly listed NVIDIA’s rumored GeForce RTX 5080 Super, citing a strikingly high power consumption of 415 watts. The RTX 5070 Ti Super and the RTX 5070 Super also appear in the tool—all three are expected to consume noticeably more power than their respective models without the “Super” suffix.

Significantly Higher Power Consumption

According to the Seasonic tool, the Nvidia RTX 5080 Super is expected to draw a peak of around 415 watts, compared to 360 watts for the regular RTX 5080. This figure aligns with an earlier leak, which also estimated around 420 watts. Given this power level, the use of the controversial 12VHPWR connector seems likely. In addition to its high power consumption, the RTX 5080 Super is also expected to feature 24 GB of GDDR7 memory and a fully configured GB203 GPU with 10,752 CUDA cores.

The smaller models are also getting a boost: The RTX 5070 Ti Super is expected to draw up to 350 watts instead of the 300 watts of the standard RTX 5070 Ti, while the RTX 5070 Super will increase from 250 to 275 watts. The RTX 5070 Super is expected to feature 18 GB of VRAM, implemented via six 3-GB modules—making it one of the first consumer graphics cards with this memory configuration.

When will the Super series be released?

Nvidia has not yet officially confirmed the existence of the RTX 50 Super series. Leakers continue to anticipate a possible unveiling at CES 2027, though no firm date has been set. Since the company’s focus is currently heavily on AI accelerators, the new gaming graphics cards might play only a supporting role there—if they’re shown at all.

For buyers, the additional VRAM is likely to be of particular interest, while the higher power consumption must be taken into account when choosing a suitable power supply—an aspect that already plays a role with current high-end cards such as the ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 OC Edition.
