NZXT Capsule: New USB microphone for streamers and gamers including boom arm introduced

Hardware and peripheral manufacturer NZXT has introduced its first USB microphone, the Capsule, which is primarily aimed at streamers and gamers. Thanks to a cardioid polar pattern, it is supposed to provide particularly effective sound suppression.

Plug-and-play microphone with strong specs

The NZXT Capsule is a cardioid polar pattern microphone that specializes in delivering high-quality sound while minimizing background noise. The manufacturer focuses on a clean, uncluttered design that should appeal primarily to streamers.

Plug-and-play connectivity makes it quick and easy to use without the need for additional software. Thanks to the cardioid polar pattern, rear background noise, such as from the keyboard or pets, should be effectively cancelled out.

The gain is set to an optimal 50 percent ex-works. In addition, the NZXT Capsule comes with a halo indicator light that informs about the operation. It glows white when the microphone is activated and red when it is muted. It also features a latch and release button for extra quick connection or disconnection to or from the desktop stand.

In conjunction with the table stand, the microphone can also be tilted vertically. A pop filter has been integrated directly into the mic, but no statement can be made about its effectiveness at the moment.

Specs and boom arm

The cardioid USB microphone comes without stand to a size of 60 x 65.1 x 170.2mm and a weight of 314 grams. It reproduces a frequency response of 20Hz – 20kHz and reaches a limiting sound pressure level of 120dB.

A depth of 24-bit at a sampling rate of 96kHz is said to provide crystal clear voice transmission, while the THD is 0.1% @ 1kHz. In addition, the NZXT Capsule features a USB Type-C port on the bottom for connecting headphones. Thanks to a 1/4″ internal thread, the microphone can be conveniently attached to common stands.

Alternatively, the manufacturer also offers a low-noise microphone swivel arm that features hidden cable management. Hidden springs are said to allow for particularly smooth movement. It is 108.1 x 9.65 x 5.75cm long and made of aluminum.  At the same time, the boom arm can be attached to tables with a maximum thickness of 5 cm and can bear a weight of up to 1.18 kg.

Prices and availability

The NZXT Capsule and the Boom Arm are available for pre-order now from the manufacturer’s website. The USB microphone is offered in Matte White and Matte Black colors and carries an MSRP of 129.99 euros. The microphone arm, in Matte Black, is priced at an MSRP of 99.99 euros. The manufacturer has not yet revealed when both devices will reach retailers.
