OnePlus Buds Pro: True wireless headphones officially unveiled

Just in time for the launch of the new OnePlus Nord 2 5G, the Chinese manufacturer ventures into the premium audio sector. The OnePlus Buds Pro are the official successor of the in-ear headphones from last year. With features such as with adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) blows to the attack on the Apple Airpods Pro.

Intelligent noise cancellation and premium sound

About a year after the release of the OnePlus Buds, the manufacturer launches the successor. The OnePlus Buds Pro are wireless premium in-ear headphones that come with an intelligent ANC system.

This is supposed to suppress unwanted sound frequencies, such as ambient noise or conversations in real time. The level of noise cancellation can be adjusted individually. Each Ear Bud has three microphones that actively filter out noise levels of up to 40 dB as needed. Thus, the aim is to deliver a much more comfortable and individual listening experience than conventional ANC systems. Thanks to improved noise cancellation algorithms and a mechanical design to reduce wind noise, calls in noisy environments should also be clearer.

Lifestyle Shot of the OnePlus Buds Pro

A good sound image is also supposed to be provided by the OnePlus Audio ID audio profile, which addresses user-specific sound sensitivities. Combined with two large dynamic 11mm drivers and Dolby Atmos support, the OnePlus Buds Pro are also said to delight music lovers with rich highs, strong bass and crystal-clear voices.

Improved battery life & gaming mode

Also in terms of battery life, the OnePlus Buds Pro significantly improve. For example, the manufacturer promises up to 38 hours of endurance – significantly more than its predecessor or the recently introduced Redmi Buds 3. They can also play music for up to 10 hours on a mere 10-minute charge via the charging case. The headphones also support Warp Charge as well as Qi-certified third-party wireless chargers.

The True Wireless headphones are paired via Bluetooth 5.2, and a dedicated Pro Gaming mode should also convince mobile gamers. Here, the latency is only 94ms – a good value, but not up to the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless X (60ms). However, OnePlus has so far kept a low profile with information regarding impedance and frequency ranges.

Prices and Availability

Priced at 149 euros (MSRP), the OnePlus Buds Pro will initially be available for pre-order on oneplus.com from August 18 until midnight on August 24. From August 25, 2021, the free sale will start on oneplus.com and on Amazon.de.
