The OnePlus family is to grow again. This time, however, we do not expect another new flagship. Instead, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is expanding its “North” lineup. This is the relatively young mid-range segment of OnePlus. Namely, it is OnePlus Nord 2T5G and OnePlus Nord CE 2. Since wireless headphones cannot be missing in 2022, of course, the company also has the OnePlus Nord Buds in the pipeline – the first headphones of the Nord series.
OnePlus Nord 2T 5G
Taking a look at the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, one has to rightfully wonder if this is even mid-range. After all, the smartphone offers many of the features that are also found in high-priced flagships. Among other things, the manufacturer has used the in-house powerful charging technology called SUPERVOOC. The 80-watt fast charging function is anything but typical for the mid-range and is supposed to be able to completely charge the 4,500 mAh battery within 27 minutes.
Another highlight should be the Mediatek Dimensity 1300 chipset. The eight-core processor is supposed to be able to offer a maximum clock rate of 3 GHz and thus be best equipped for the vast majority of applications. OnePlus not only promises a lot of power, but also a high degree of energy efficiency – HyperEngine 5.0 makes it possible. The CPU is supported by a maximum of 12 GB of RAM. In terms of storage space, up to 256 GB of flash memory is possible.
At first glance, it is clear that the OnePlus North 2T 5G is not a small smartphone. The AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution measures 6.43 inches and offers up to 90 Hz refresh rates. The OnePlus North 2T 5G features a triple camera consisting of a main camera (Sony IMX766 50 MP sensor), an ultra-wide-angle camera with 8 MP, and a mono lens with 2 MP for taking snapshots in between. The interaction of AI, processor and camera software is supposed to conjure up great results especially in low-light conditions. A front-facing camera with 32 MP is used for selfies in between.
OnePlus North CE 2 Lite 5G
The spec sheet of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G also sounds quite promising. OnePlus does not rely on Mediatek here, but Qualcomm. After all, a Snapdragon 695 5G works under the hood of the mid-range smartphone. It is supported by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage. In terms of battery, it trumps the 2T 5G. After all, a huge 5,000 mAh battery is used here.
Getting this empty in just one day should be a real challenge. If it is empty after all, you can also use the fast charging function here. However, the SUPERVOOC “only” offers a maximum of 33 watts. In view of the larger battery, OnePlus naturally also relies on a larger casing here, which affects the display size.
At 6.59 inches, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is definitely one of the larger smartphones. The LCD display resolves with FHD+ and offers 120 Hz. A triple camera is also used here. The main camera offers 64 MP. On the front, there is a front-facing camera, which in turn resolves with 16 MP.
OnePlus North Buds
With the OnePlus Nord Buds, the manufacturer celebrates the first headphones in the ranks of its mid-range series. Under the hood of the chic True Wireless In Ears, 12.4 mm titanium drivers are at work. They are supposed to provide booming bass, but also clear trebles. OnePlus also promises a great surround sound thanks to Dolby Atmos support.
At the same time, the movie is also allowed to last a little longer. A battery life of up to 30 hours speaks for stamina. And while we are on the subject of batteries. Of course, they also support a fast charging function. Only ten minutes of charging is supposed to provide an impressive five hours of playback time.
Thanks to the four built-in microphones, you can not only make calls with the OnePlus Nord Buds. These are also supposed to provide reliable noise cancellation. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.2 and ultra-low latency mode, the TWS offer optimal conditions for wireless music enjoyment. On paper, at least, it all sounds very promising.
