Oppo A6s 5G: mid-range smartphone with 7,000 mAh battery and IP69 protection unveiled

With the Oppo A6s 5G, the manufacturer is launching a new smartphone in the mid-range that is particularly notable for its endurance and robustness. A particularly large battery, fast charging and an IP69-certified casing clearly set this model apart from many of its competitors. At the same time, Oppo focuses on a modern design and solid everyday performance. The device thus positions itself as a price-conscious alternative within the A6 series and complements the existing portfolio at the lower end.

  • 7,000 mAh battery with 80 watt fast charging function
  • Water and dust-proof housing in accordance with IP69
  • 6.75-inch 120 Hz display
  • 5G support and dual SIM function

Oppo A6s 5G focuses on endurance and resilience

The Oppo A6s 5G’s biggest focus is clearly on battery life. With a capacity of 7,000 mAh, the smartphone is one of the longest-lasting devices in its class. In combination with 80 watt fast charging, the large energy storage unit can be recharged relatively quickly despite its size. Although wireless charging is not available, the device remains within the mid-range price bracket. With a height of 8.61 millimeters and a weight of 216 grams, the smartphone is noticeably larger and heavier, which seems plausible given the battery.

Another unique selling point is the IP69 certification. While many mid-range smartphones offer a maximum of IP67 or IP68, the Oppo A6s 5G is also protected against strong water jets. This makes it particularly resistant in everyday use and interesting for users who also use their smartphone in more demanding conditions. Visually, Oppo remains true to the design of the A6 series: flat frame, discreet finish and a square camera module on the back. However, the slightly wider display chin reveals the price range.

Display, performance and camera at a glance

The 6.75-inch display of the Oppo A6s 5G uses an IPS panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This ensures smooth animations and pleasant scrolling behavior in everyday use. The maximum brightness of up to 1,125 nits ensures that content remains easy to read even in daylight. There are drawbacks in the resolution, which is comparatively low at 1,520 x 720 pixels. This is sufficient for everyday applications, but the panel does not come close to the sharpness of more expensive models.

Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6 nm SoC from 2024. The chip combines two Cortex-A76 performance cores with up to 2.4 GHz and six efficient Cortex-A55 cores. This makes the smartphone suitable for typical everyday tasks, multimedia and occasional gaming without claiming to be a performance miracle. The camera equipment consists of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor and a 16-megapixel front camera. The features are complemented by NFC, a fingerprint sensor and a dual SIM slot.

Conclusion: Solid overall package with a clear focus

The Oppo A6s 5G positions itself as a durable and particularly robust mid-range smartphone. The large 7,000 mAh battery, fast charging function and IP69 certification set clear accents, while the display and processor are deliberately designed for a balanced price-performance ratio. Details on the market launch and price have yet to be released, but it is expected to be positioned below the Oppo A6 Pro 5G and therefore sell for less than 250 euros.
