Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has announced the F17 Pro, allegedly the thinnest smartphone of the year. Although it will take some time before the lightweight will be available in stores, the company has already cobbled together the title from the outset.
Focus on case design
The number one selling point of the new F17 Pro is clearly its design. Here the manufacturer wants to score with the slim exterior. By the way, the thickness is one of those things. After all, the F17 Pro with its 7.48 mm will not be the slimmest representative among the smartphones. The iPhone SE 2020, for example, measures just 7.3 millimeters. But only the customer who reads the small print will find out. Oppo does not compare itself to the entire smartphone market in terms of housing thickness. The competition from the upper price ranges remains unnoticed. The focus is on devices in the same price segment (up to around 285 euros). Looking at this market, Oppo is probably the thinnest representative. But design is not everything. The smartphone’s camera is also said to have a lot going for it. Not only the main camera plays a major role. Oppo stresses that the portrait camera should be able to do a convincing job.

Comprehensive Features
The F17 Pro cameras look really impressive at first sight – especially considering the low price. Oppo uses six different cameras here. On the front side, there is a selfie camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels. Thanks to the ToF sensor, it should even allow depth-of-field effects. On the back is a quadruple camera with a resolution of 48 MP. As with the Google pixel, Oppo’s main goal is to create image quality through sophisticated algorithms. This should ensure detailed images, especially in the dark. According to Oppo, artificial intelligence concentrates primarily on the level of detail in the faces.
Price and availability
In addition to a 6.43-inch AMOLED display, the F17 Pro probably also offers a range of attractive accessories. Among other things, Oppo includes a quick charger that provides 30 watts of power. An official presentation of the smartphone is to follow in September. There we will probably also find out when and at what price the F17 Pro will be launched.
