Over 500,000 unprotected zoom accounts

As the cyber security company Cyble told BleeingComputer, the company has found the account data of over 500,000 Zoom users in hack forums on Darkweb. The access data were sometimes given away for a few cents or even for free.

At least 530,000 user accounts are thus freely accessible to hackers, corporate spies and other people with unfair intentions. The hackers received the user information from previous data leaks from other platforms. Through credential stuffing, i.e. trying out the access data, so many accounts could be detected even at Zoom. Users simply used their credentials on several services and after a hack or data leak did not change the credentials everywhere. This is exactly the reason why it is recommended to use different access data everywhere.

Cyble, the cyber security company, has acquired the records of 530,000 Zoom users to warn them and advise them to change their passwords soon. They paid about $0.002 per account for the large dataset, so the total cost of the data, consisting of email, password, meeting URL and HostKey, was only about $1000.

For the administration of all logins we recommend for example KeePassXC. Via Have I Been Pwned, but also via a function integrated in Google Chrome, own hacked accounts could be found to change the access data.
