With the Panasonic Z8BA, Panasonic is launching a new OLED smart TV model that is intended to complement its premium portfolio and at the same time make it accessible to a wider range of buyers. With 77 inches, 144 Hz, Dolby Vision HDR and a focus on gaming functions, it is aimed directly at technology fans, gamers and home cinema enthusiasts alike.

Panasonic has positioned the Z8BA between the Z80B and the premium flagship Z95B, with the clear aim of offering high-quality technology at a comparatively lower price. According to Panasonic, compromises are to be expected in terms of brightness compared to the Z95B – specific values for the panel or maximum luminance have not yet been communicated.
Display & image processing
- The OLED screen delivers 4K resolution at 144 Hz refresh rate. It can also display Dolby Vision HDR content at 144 fps – a feature that is particularly interesting for gaming enthusiasts.
- The built-in HCX Pro AI Processor MK II takes care of upscaling and image optimization.
- Users can deactivate tone mapping and instead shift control of HDR to the source device – a function that can be particularly beneficial for devices such as the Nintendo Switch 2.
Gaming features & interfaces
- HDMI 2.1, variable frame rates (VRR) and AMD FreeSync Premium are integrated to prevent tearing and stuttering.
- According to the manufacturer, True Game Mode is designed to improve color fidelity in games, while special sound modes can highlight specific sounds such as gunshots or dialogue.
- The smart platform is based on Amazon Fire TV, making streaming services easily accessible and smart home functions controllable via Alexa.
- The audio system has been optimized in cooperation with Technics to ensure that films and games are also acoustically impressive.
Launch, price and availability
The Panasonic Z8BA will initially be launched in the USA – at the start exclusively in the 77-inch version at a price of 2,499 US dollars. By comparison, the 77-inch Z95B ( is priced significantly higher. A global launch or an official euro price for Germany has not yet been confirmed. It also remains to be seen whether Panasonic will follow suit with other display sizes (such as 65″ or 55″).
