When displaying HDR content, the new Philips 27B1U7903 monitor comes in at a peak brightness of 1,400 cd/m2, earning it a DisplayHDR 1400 certification. But even with SDR content, the brightness of 1,000 cd/m2 is more than respectable.

This is made possible by a high-quality mini-LED backlight display, where the LEDs are distributed over a total of 2,304 independently adjustable light zones. At the same time, the Quantum Dot technology enables a particularly high color space coverage. 97 percent DCI-P3 and 99 percent Adobe RGB are promised. The extremely low color deviation of Delta E < 1 also sounds promising.

4K at 60 Hz

The Philips 27B1U7903 is aimed primarily at professional users. Thus, the 27-inch screen combines a 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels, 163 ppi) with a refresh rate of a sufficient 60 Hz at 4 milliseconds response time.

The contrast ratio is specified at 1,300:1, which is also a very good value for an IPS panel. The color depth on the other hand is 10 bits, but it is unclear whether this is realized natively or via FRC simulation.

Thanks to a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4, the Philips monitor is excellently positioned for modern business use. The input transmits image and data from a source, such as a notebook, which is also simultaneously supplied with up to 90 watts for power.

An additional 15 watts are possible via a second Thunderbolt port. Other connections include one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.0 ports, four USB-A ports, a 3.5 mm audio output and a network connection with up to 1 Gigabit/s.

Integrated stereo speakers, a height adjustment an upright rotation (pivot function) are also offered. A presence sensor, which reduces the brightness in the user’s absence to save power, skillfully rounds off the features.

Price and Availability

The Philips 27B1U7903 monitor has so far only been listed on the manufacturer’s Chinese product page. A release date has not been announced yet, and the price is still unknown. However, the monitor will not necessarily be cheap due to the lush features.
