Philips E-Line: Two affordable gaming monitors

With the 242E1GAJ and 272E1GAJ, manufacturer Philips wants to offer gamers not only an affordable but also a good gaming experience. Here you have the choice between a 23.8 inch monitor and a 27 inch monitor. The refresh rate of 144 Hz and response time of 1 ms reads very promising.

Wide range of applications

Of course, the two devices in the E-Line are not uncompromising gaming monitors. But in view of the low price, one cannot demand that at all. Rather, they are two monitors that are ideally suited for everyday applications. This means that students and professionals who depend on one monitor are definitely a target group for the two devices. The entry level monitors can convince with a modern design. Thus they come along almost without a frame. In both models of the E-Line, the 16:9 display has Full HD resolution. The VA panel is not only fast, but should also be able to guarantee large viewing angles. However, a separate system should not be required. Finally, the two monitors offer built-in stereo speakers.

Impressive refresh rate

Considering the low price, both monitors offer an amazingly high refresh rate. Thus, the 242E1GAJ and 272E1GAJ can score with 144 Hz. Furthermore, both gaming monitors offer a response time of 1 ms. The smaller version of the E-Line also offers AMD FreeSync. This allows gamers to enjoy the gaming experience without disturbing tearing. In addition, the E-Line offers an On Screen Display (OSD), which was customized to the needs of gamers. Here you can choose between different modes, which should optimize the gaming experience decisively.

Eye-protecting work possible

The two monitors really do offer the right features for every application. For example, there is a LowBlue mode for eye-friendly work. This ensures a higher color temperature. But even during gambling the eyes can be spared. That is why Philips relies on the so-called FlickerFree technology. This does not tire the eyes so quickly. The “SmartImage” mode provides general image enhancement. Both monitors offer the most common connections. In addition to HDMI and audio output in the form of a jack plug, DisplayPort is also included.

Price and availability

The smaller representative of the E-Line (242E1GAJ) can be purchased immediately. But Philips calls a UVP of 179 euro. For the larger brother we must wait however still a few weeks. Thus the 272E1GAJ is to be available in the middle of October in the trade. For the larger monitor of the E-Line a UVP of 219 euro results.
