Philips Evnia 27M2C5500W: QHD gaming monitor with 240 Hz presented

With the Philips Evnia 27M2C5500W, the manufacturer has unveiled a new gaming monitor in its gaming brand launched in October 2022. The new model is a display complete with QHD resolution and a fast refresh rate of 240 Hz.

Early 2023 should see the big launch for Philips Evnia, the new gaming brand from display specialist MMD, which plans to offer peripherals alongside gaming monitors. After the particularly high-quality UWQHD model Evnia 34M2C7600MV, they are now launching another gaming monitor.

The Philips Evnia 27M2C5500W comes across much more conservative and relies on a 27-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, along with a refresh rate of a fast 240 hertz. The model is equipped with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and offers a response time of 1 ms for gray-to-grey changes and 0.5 ms MPRT for the VA panel.

The monitor features a curved panel with a 1000R curvature and allows wide viewing angles of 178°/178° and has a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, which means the brightness should be on a good level. 400 cd/m² should be achieved.

In addition, the monitor has SmartContrast for a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and covers the sRGB color space by 119 percent and the NTSC color space by 98.5 percent. The factory color fidelity of Delta E <2 is also impressive.

The Philips Evnia 27M2C5500W connects via HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.4, both ports are available in dual versions – however, the full 240 hertz is only available via DisplayPort. In addition, the monitor has a USB hub with USB 3.2 Gen 1/5 Gbit/s, one USB-B upstream and four USB-A downstream including a second fast charging port.

In terms of ergonomics, the display can tilt between -5 degrees and 20 degrees, swivel between -30 degrees and +30 degrees, and adjust 130 mm in height, while a LowBlue mode and Flicker-Free technology are said to be easy on the eyes.
