Philips is expanding its Evnia gaming monitor range with a new model: the Philips Evnia 27M2N5201P is aimed at competitive gamers who want Full HD and the highest possible frame rates – at an entry-level price of 199 euros. With a Fast IPS panel, up to 260 Hz refresh rate and the brand’s typical Ambiglow lighting, the new model has a lot to offer.

260 Hz through overclocking – what’s behind it?

The 27M2N5201P runs at 240 Hz natively – the advertised 260 Hz can be achieved by overclocking. This sounds like a small difference at first, but it can bring a minimal improvement in the motion display for hypersensitive gamers in fast titles such as CS2 or Valorant. More important in everyday use: the response time is 1 ms (GtG), supplemented by Smart MBR technology with 0.3 ms, which is intended to further reduce motion blur. There is also Low Input Lag, which minimizes the delay between input and screen response.

AdaptiveSync ensures a tearing-free picture as long as the frame rate remains within the supported range. HDR10 is also on board, but you shouldn’t expect professional HDR performance from a €199 monitor – it’s about compatibility, not spectacular contrast values.

Fast-IPS: Color and angle without VA compromises

Philips relies on Fast-IPS as the panel type, i.e. a variant of the classic IPS optimized for fast response times. This means stable colors and wide viewing angles – a clear advantage over TN panels, which are fast but have weaker colors. The Full HD resolution (1,920 × 1,080 pixels) on a 27-inch diagonal is a deliberate choice: Especially in competitive gaming, you don’t need a GPU that struggles with 4K. Even a mid-range graphics card can easily achieve the necessary frame rate here.

Ambiglow: Immersion thanks to AI-controlled RGB lighting

Ambiglow is a truly unique feature of the Evnia series. The RGB LEDs on the back adjust their color and brightness in real time to what is happening on the screen – an AI continuously analyzes the scenes displayed and controls the lighting accordingly. The result: the game world appears visually larger because the light incorporates the space behind the monitor. This also works for movie and music content. Anyone familiar with Ambilight from Philips TVs will understand the principle immediately.

Ergonomics and connections

The stand of the 27M2N5201P can be adjusted in all important directions: Height, tilt, swivel and pivot are all possible. There are no nasty surprises during setup – HDMI and DisplayPort cables are included. An HDMI 2.0 port and a DisplayPort 1.4 are available for connections, which is sufficient to transmit uncompressed FHD at 260 Hz. However, a USB hub is missing, which is not surprising at 199 euros.

The device is equipped with Flicker-Free mode, SoftBlue and a dedicated Low-Blue mode to protect the eyes. The included Philips Evnia Precision Center software allows you to manage profiles and picture settings conveniently on your PC without having to click through the OSD menu.

Price and availability

The Philips Evnia 27M2N5201P will be available from the end of April 2026 at an RRP of 199 euros in Germany and Austria. In Switzerland, it will follow at CHF 179 (excl. VAT and VAT). This is a competitive price for a 240/260 Hz Fast IPS model with Ambiglow – other manufacturers sometimes charge significantly more for similar specs.

If you have been following Philips monitors for a while, you may remember our review of the Philips 32M1N5800A, which was a convincing 4K gaming monitor in the M5000 series. The new Evnia 27M2N5201P is positioned in the more affordable segment, but appeals to a clearly defined target group.

Conclusion: Solid Philips Evnia 27M2N5201P for competitive gamers

The Philips Evnia 27M2N5201P is not a revolutionary, but a well-calculated product: Fast-IPS, 260 Hz (with OC), 1 ms GtG, AdaptiveSync, HDR10 and the unique Ambiglow lighting system for 199 euros – that’s a fair deal for gamers who want to be on the move in a competitive environment without experimenting. If you’re into 4K or OLED, it’s better to look elsewhere. For everyone else who wants high-speed FHD, the device will be an interesting option from the end of April 2026.
