Pico 4 Enterprise: New VR headset officially unveiled

Around one month after the Pico 4, the manufacturer has introduced another model of its all-in-one VR headset. The Pico 4 Enterprise specifically helps enterprise customers realize their full potential and promotes productivity through use in educational institutions, healthcare or training, for example.

Pico 4 Enterprise: VR solution for enterprises

“The PICO 4 Enterprise is an exciting addition to our enterprise offering and we look forward to our partners getting their hands on the new product,” reveals Oliver Wöhler, Enterprise Lead EMEA at PICO.

The new model is the manufacturer’s first VR headset with precise eye, facial expression and gesture tracking. Supported by two infrared cameras, the headset offers an immersive and interactive VR experience, enabling enterprises to optimize connectivity.

Plans also call for automatic IPD adjustment, which automatically adjusts to users’ eye distances without additional input or lengthy instructions.

Attached to the headset’s slim frame are four SLAM cameras that enable high-precision tracking and mapping of the environment. Hidden under the front bezel is a powerful 16MP RGB camera that brings the color-intensive screen to life, covering 85 percent of the NTSC color space and 100 percent of the sRGB color gamut.

Strong Chip, High Resolution

Once again, the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 with a Kryo 585 CPU including 8 cores and clock rates of up to 2.84 GHz is used as the chip. It enables a refresh rate of 90 Hz on the 4k+ screen in the Pico 4 Enterprise, which offers a field of view of 105 degrees and resolves in 4,320 x 2,160 pixels with 1,200 ppi.

The battery of the AiO VR headset comes to a capacity of 5,300 mAh and is supported by the latest industry standard Qualcomm Quick Charge QC 3.0. It offers an active usage time of 2.5 to 3 hours and can be recharged quickly.

On top of that, there is 8 GB of fast LPDDR5-6400 MHz RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The normal Pico 4 comes with either 128 GB or 256 GB. The VR headset communicates wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6.

The controllers of the Pico 4 Enterprise feature a rotating arc column with cleverly placed infrared sensors. Thanks to the design and structural stability of the controllers, you can easily bring your hands closer together with added protection from hit detection and spatial awareness.

The controllers also support 6DoF, which allows for a wider range of motion in the virtual environment, and a HyperSense wideband motor for more realistic haptic feedback. They run on two standard AA batteries and are said to last up to 80 hours.

Integrated 360° surround stereo speakers that support spatial 3D sound provide rich and room-filling sound, while clear communication is realized via two microphones that offer noise reduction (up to 30 dB) and echo cancellation (up to 50 dB).

High comfort in the Pico 4 Enterprise

Including battery and strap, the Pico 4 Enterprise weighs just 300 grams, 5 grams more than the Pico 4. This feather-light weight is achieved by using smaller and lighter lenses in the pancake optics, reducing the thickness of the case to just 35.8 mm at its thinnest point.

The headset is equipped with adjustable straps and uses a SuperSkin fabric for padding, a unique material with effective moisture-wicking properties designed to provide extra protection against heat and sweat. The non-slip PU leather on the back of the headset adds even more comfort and control.

Made for Enterprise

The Pico 4 Enterprise, unlike the Pico 4, is aimed primarily at businesses, marking a competitor to the Lenovo ThinkReality VRX VR headset. The PICO Business Suite, which is integrated into the PICO 4 Enterprise, provides direct access to an enterprise-level operations system that allows PICO partners to manage their workflows in a secure environment.

The three main functions of the system are sync, streaming and kiosk modes, allowing multiple VR devices to be connected together. At the same time, this provides live streaming and autoplay capabilities.

Flexible integration by enterprises is ensured through a specially developed enterprise app store, developer kits and company-exclusive settings. In addition, PICO continues to place great emphasis on data protection and is expected to be ISO27001 certified by early 2023.

Price and Availability

The Pico 4 Enterprise all-in-one VR headset will be available for purchase from 01 November 2022 from popular stores such as Bestware or VR-Expert and many more can be pre-ordered and should start shipping in early December. However, the prices vary quite a bit. Sometimes there is talk of 899 Euros, sometimes 1,069 Euros are called for, although that could still change until the start of pre-orders.
