Pico Neo3 Link: Standalone VR headset goes on sale

In April 2022, manufacturer Pico Interactive had officially unveiled the exciting standalone VR headset Pico Neo3 Link. Now the new consumer headset is finally starting to go on sale.

Pico Neo3 Link: Self-contained 2-in-1 VR headset

The Pico Neo3 Link is starting to go on sale in a beta phase. This is the manufacturer’s flagship 2-in-1 VR headset that can be used either completely autonomously or in conjunction with a PC. The VR goggles are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chipset and offer 4K-level resolution (3,664 x 1,920, 1,832 x 1,920 per eye), as well as an ultra-high refresh rate of 90/120 Hz.

Four cameras and various sensors enable simultaneous tracking of the head from the inside out. There are also two controllers, as well as hand and even gesture tracking. The package also includes a five-meter DisplayPort cable that can be used to connect the headset to a PC to experience native 4K 90Hz StreamVR content.

The stable Eliteband with a fit wheel, as well as a three-stage adjustable IPD (Interpupillary Distance, distance between the eyes) system are said to provide a high level of wearing comfort. In addition, 6DoF (6 Degrees of Freedom) technology is supported.

Over 100 6DoF VR apps are available for download from the Pico Store. At launch, the store is accessible via the headset itself. The Pico Store will be made available online shortly after the beta phase. There you will find games like SUPERHOT VR, Puzzling Places,After the Fall, Walkabout Mini Golf, Eleven Table Tennis and Demeo.

More Features

On top of that, there’s SteamVR’s wide-ranging catalog of games. All you have to do is connect the VR headset to the VR-enabled PC with the included 5-meter DisplayPort cable, install the Pico Link software on the computer, and launch the SteamVR software. Already, over 4,000 SteamVR content can be experienced at 4K level with up to 90 Hz refresh rate.

The Neo3 Link also supports Wi-Fi 6 and wireless PC-based VR streaming. The Neo3 Link offers accuracy and latency thanks to 6DoF controllers that use 32 optical tracking sensors for positioning in complex environments. Combined with four wide-angle cameras, stable tracking can be achieved even in low-texture environments with light or dark settings.

As part of the beta program, the Pico Neo3 Link also allows the community to provide direct feedback on the product via the exclusive platform (via Discord) and thus influence the development itself. In addition, the manufacturer promises extensive software updates already for the coming months, which should deliver “an even better customer experience”.

Price and Availability

The Pico Neo3 Link can be ordered now from BestWare and VR Expert. The manufacturer’s RRP is 449.00 Euros.
