Those who buy their games digitally normally only receive the right to use them, but the games do not become their own property. The Play2Own platform GamesCoin wants to change that, and is now operating under the new name YOURE Family.

“Play. Create. Own.” is the motto of YOURE Family, the new name behind GamescCoin Group GmbH. Alex Suárez, founder and CEO of YOURE Family, explains: “Those who currently buy games from platforms still don’t have full control over their games. YOURE will change that.”

The idea behind it is big, because with the platform you own the digital games and content and can even trade them without limits. At the same time, publishers and developers receive additional royalties through resale, which should make the system exciting for creators as well.

To enable this Play2Own approach, the company relies on its own blockchain technology GamesChain. Through the YOURE Games portal, you can buy the games and they truly become your property. The portal is expected to launch before the end of the second half of 2023.

“We are democratizing gaming by building a decentralized, blockchain-based ecosystem, based on our credo “Play to own for fun”. In doing so, we not only want to give players:ers back their rightful ownership, but also reward developers:ers and publishers for a great game, Suárez continued.

However, this applies not only to the games themselves, but also to the “digital assets,” as the announcement indicates. What exactly is meant by this, however, is unclear. Presumably, there is talk of skins and other game content.
