PNY high-end SSDs with PCIe 4.0 now also with us

PNY’s XLR8 CS3140 was a long time coming in Germany. Now, the fast PCIe 4.0 SSD is also available here. It is supposed to achieve very good transfer rates and even outshine the competition.

Market launch in Germany

The PNY XLR8 CS3140 is a high-end SSD and has already been introduced in other regions, but was not available in our country until now, now the market launch in Germany is also imminent. PNY Technologies is an American hardware manufacturer that specializes in USB flash drives. Memory cards, graphics cards and also digital cameras. The new CS3140 SSD from PNY is particularly suitable for demanding work, gaming and intensive workloads.

PNY claims transfer rates of 7,500 MB/s read and up to 6,850 MB/s write for the M.2 SSD. Buyers can choose between 1 and 2 TB of storage space. Not much data about the PNY XLR8 CS3140 is available yet, but the key data suggests a Phison E18 controller. The use of 3D TLC NAND is also pretty certain, although PNY only writes about a “3D Flash Memory” on the product page here. NVMe 1.4 is also supposed to be supported and data encryption according to the AES-256 standard. A DRAM cache is also available. How it looks with the Total Bytes Written (TBW) is not known, PNY’s specifications are missing here.

Availability and prices

The PNY XLR8 CS3140 is available immediately. There are versions with and without a cooler. With 1 TB of memory and no cooler, the high-end SSD is available at a price of approximately 240 euros and the 2 TB variant for about 481.55 euros. With the towering cooler, the price is not much higher and is approximately 280 euros for the 1 TB version and the 2 TB variant is said to cost approximately 460 euros. As usual in this segment, the manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty on its SSDs.
