Polestar 3: Premiere of the E-SUV takes place on October 12

The Polestar 3 all-electric SUV finally has a launch date. Already in June, they announced the world premiere for October 2022, now we know when exactly it will be: The E-SUV is scheduled to be unveiled on October 12.

Polestar will unveil its first all-electric SUV, the Polestar 3, to the public in a world premiere in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 12, 2022. It thus now adds an SUV to the manufacturer’s model lineup alongside the Polestar 2 sedan, the Polestar 5 sports car and the Polestar 6 electric roadster.

“The Polestar 3 is a powerful, design-oriented electric performance SUV that appeals to the senses with its distinctive shape and outstanding driving dynamics,” the manufacturer promises.

Technically, the 3 Series is built on an all-electric technology platform developed and shared by Volvo Cars and is said to feature the latest high-end components.  These include, for example, a central processing unit from Nvidia.

The Polestar 3 is also said to offer a host of advanced safety systems from Volvo Cars and leading industry suppliers such as Zenseact, Luminar and Smart Eye.

For their part, the colleagues from Sweden will launch the EX90 E-SUV in November and have already revealed initial details on the safety equipment and the new occupant detection system for this.

Performance through and through

The Polestar 3 is said to be all about performance, and this is not limited to the power of the electric motor alone. At launch, all variants feature a rear-drive, twin-motor powertrain with electric torque vectoring via a dual-clutch system on the rear electric motor.

There’s also an adaptive dual-chamber air suspension and active shock absorbers. These allow you to switch between setting the suspension for more comfort and a taut, sporty setting. At the same time, the dampers adjust to current road conditions every two milliseconds (500 Hz).

“The ability to transform from a comfortable cruiser to a sporty, agile performance car in less than the blink of an eye is what makes the Polestar 3 so special as an electric performance SUV. It also benefits from a low center of gravity and wide track for ultimate stability and an exhilarating feel behind the wheel,” says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

The optional Performance Package brings the E-SUV up to 380 kW of power with 910 Nm of torque. It also includes Polestar Engineered suspension tuning for the active dampers and air suspension.

In addition, there are Polestar’s signature details such as valve caps and seat belts in Swedish gold color, as well as a laser-engraved light bar in the interior.
