Polestar 6: Electric roadster concept car goes into series production

After the electric sports car Polestar 5 debuted on the road in June 2022, the automaker from Sweden is now sending a new electric roadster to the starting line. The Polestar 6 Electric Performance Roadster is scheduled to launch on the market in 2026.

The Polestar 6 electric roadster concept car will be produced as a production vehicle. The market launch is planned for 2026. However, interested parties have been able to register in advance online for a production slot since August 16, 2022.

The electric roadster concept car, unveiled in Los Angeles in March as the Polestar O₂, builds on the design, technology and sustainability ambitions of the Polestar Precept and exemplifies Polestar’s vision of a sports car of the future.

“Due to the overwhelming response from customers and the press, we have decided to produce this stunning roadster as a production vehicle and I am very much looking forward to making it a reality,” reveals Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

The hardtop convertible is based on Polestar’s bespoke bonded aluminum platform. It is developed entirely in-house and features a powerful 800-volt electric architecture that is also used in the Polestar 5.

Up to 884 horsepower

The Polestar 6 is thus said to realize up to 650 kW (884 hp) of power and 900 Nm of torque. Thanks to dual motor drivetrain, acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h is said to be possible in 3.2 seconds. The maximum top speed, on the other hand, is 250 km/h.

To celebrate the market launch in a fitting manner, 500 numbered copies of a special LA Concept version are to be produced initially as the Polestar 6 LA Concept edition. They will be exclusively equipped with the unique “Sky” blue exterior, light leather interior and special 21-inch wheels of the original Polestar O₂ concept car.

However, further technical details about the Polestar 6 are currently still scarce. These are to be published, together with the final specifications, by the time of the expected market launch in 2026. However, pre-registration is already possible on the official website.
