Polestar presents first own limited edition mountain bike

A big part of the energy transition is the phasing out of cars powered by fossil fuels. Instead, only fully electric cars will soon be used. However, in view of ever more crowded roads, we also need to think in other directions. Sooner or later, for example, better bicycle networks will also have to be created in the inner cities. Cities such as Copenhagen and Amsterdam show how the optimal interaction between cars and bicycles can work. Polestar is now demonstrating that the two means of transport can work together perfectly with a somewhat different form of cooperation. Together with the premium bicycle brand Allebike, which like the Volvo subsidiary also comes from Sweden, Polestar has now presented a new cooperation. Thus, the first Polestar-branded bicycle is to go on sale in a limited edition.

Limited edition with high price

Those who want to secure the bike from Allebike in the optionally black and white or completely black Polestar design must be quick. Thus, the eletroauto manufacturer wants to sell just 11 pieces of the full-suspension mountain bike in its Polestar Additionals Shop. The bike resulting from the cooperation is handmade and bears the name “Allebike Alpha Polestar Edition”. On top of that, the latest suspension technology is used here. The price is correspondingly high. Thus, the car manufacturer in its online store demands a proud price of 9,500 euros. Given the limited edition, demand will nevertheless be high.

Perfect interplay between bike and car

In the picture released as part of Polestar’s press release, you can see how the mountain bike is perched on the roof mount of a Polestar 2. Connoisseurs of Allebike will recognize here that in its basic form the bike is a model that is already available. The Swedish family-owned company relies on its popular Alpha model for its cooperation with Polestar. In particular, Polestar emphasizes that they have collaborated with Allebike on the frame of the bike. Similar to the Volvo subsidiary’s vehicles, only high-quality materials are used here. For example, the frame relies on a lightweight but also rigid construction, which is achieved by using plastic reinforced with carbon fiber.

A mountain bike is naturally at home in the mountains. To tackle even high climbs with ease, the geometry of the “Allebike Alpha Polestar Edition” is designed so that the rider sits upright. For safety on the descent, the steering ear angle of 65 degrees is supposed to provide. If you take a closer look at the bike’s shapes, you will immediately recognize Polestar’s design language. You can see angular shapes here. The most modern technology can be recognized by the fact that no cables are visible and yet a lot is offered. So probably also here. In addition to a wireless seatpost, the gearshift is also supposed to be wireless. The latter, however, is only possible at extra cost.

The shock absorber as an eye-catcher

A real visual highlight are undoubtedly the shock absorbers. These can be hardly overlooked due to their painting in the color Swedish gold. Here, too, there is a parallel to the Polestar 2, as the performance package of the electric car also features the noble coloration. The two vehicles thus form a very well-matched pair visually. Of course, the shock absorbers are a visual highlight for a reason. Since the most modern Öhlins dampers are installed here, it is fair to say that they also stand out visually. In terms of technology and design, the bike is beyond reproach. If only there were not the price. Should you not have the almost 10,000 euros on the high edge, are perhaps the Magmove 700C or the Strøm Bikes City M 2.0 the more affordable choice.
