With the PowerA Kirby controller for Nintendo Switch, the manufacturer has a new edition of its Nintendo Switch Enhanced Wired Controller officially licensed by Nintendo. The pink cuddly ball celebrates its 30th birthday this year. The manufacturer has also made a name for itself in this country with successful third-party gamepads like the Spectra Infinity for Xbox.
The PowerA Kirby controller in detail
The new PowerA Kirby controller is a special edition of the already available Nintendo Switch Enhanced Wired Controller, which shines in the finest pink-blue color and presents the birthday child on the front.
The front features a gold star, top center and Nintendo mascot on the left grip horn and the Kirby logo on the right side. All buttons and triggers, as well as the digi-pad are in pinter color scheme.
On the top, you plug in the three-meter USB cable, which is mandatory for use. On the bottom, you can connect a headset or headphones thanks to the 3.5 mm jack. There are also two additional buttons on the back that can be reprogrammed and assigned with additional functions. Practical, so you don’t have to take your thumb off the right analog stick as often.
Not all the functions of the original Pro Controller
However, the cheaper PowerA Kirby controller doesn’t offer all the features inherent in the original Nintendo Switch Pro controller. For example, you cannot use the motion controls and have to do without the haptic feedback in the form of the vibration motors.
In addition, the gamepad does not offer NFC, which means that Nintendo’s Amiibo collectible figures cannot be used.
PowerA also offers a case for the Nintendo Switch console that matches the controller and can be used for the normal model as well as the Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch OLED variants.
It also offers convenient additional pockets that can safely store the game modules, Joy-Cons and other accessories when you are on the go with Nintendo’s hybrid console.
Nintendo’s cuddly mascot was given a new game on Nintendo Switch just this year. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a 3D jump-and-run in which the pink creature must explore a new environment and face dangerous boss enemies.
