QNAP TS-233 NAS introduced: Smart storage solution for hybrid working

QNAP Systems has introduced the QNAP TS-233 NAS, a new 2-bay NAS that positions itself on the market as an intelligent storage solution for hybrid work in home and office environments. Thanks to its slim design, the TS-233 is also said to cut a fine figure on the home desktop and act as a centralized storage, backup, file sharing and multimedia solution.

QNAP TS-233 NAS in detail

With a sleek design and quiet fan, the QNAP TS-233 NAS aims to impress home users as a centralized storage and multimedia solution with a wide range of NAS applications. The TS-233 is primarily aimed at home users who want to create their own personal cloud and use it in their multimedia center at home.

The storage is powered by an ARM Cortex A55 quad-core processor (2 GHz clock speed) with an integrated 2 GB RAM. It can be used with 3.5-inch SATA SSDs up to 6 GB/s and supports AES-NI encryption acceleration, thus enabling secure and fast backup and recovery.

Inside is also an NPU (Neural Network Processing Unit) processor, which also provides a performance boost to the QNAP AI Core. This AI-powered engine for image recognition ensures fast face and object recognition.

Visually, the TS-233 relies on a slim and minimalistic design including a predominantly white color scheme, which is visually reminiscent of a desktop PC and turns out to be quite compact with dimensions of 188.64 x 90.18 x 156.26 mm (height x width x depth). The NAS weighs 1.1 kg net, and 1.95 kg gross when equipped.

The NAS is hot-swappable and offers space for two 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s, 3Gb/s SSDs in the drive bay. Compatible, on the other hand, are not only 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA hard drives, but also 2.5-inch SSDs. Two USB A ports and one USB 3.2 Gen 1 port are available, as well as a Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ45).

QTS 5.0 Operating System

QTS 5.0 is used as the operating system for the QNAP TS-233 NAS. It features comprehensive NAS home/business applications such as File Station for streamlining NAS file access, as well as sharing and management via a web browser. Hybrid Backup Sync also enables easy backup of NAS files to the cloud or to another NAS.

In addition, TS-233 supports multimedia applications such as QuMagie, Video Station, and Music Station, which can store and access all photos, videos, and music files centrally. Thanks to ARM NEON technology, video processing is also accelerated to provide a better entertainment experience.

Prices and Availability

The QNAP TS-233 NAS is available in stores now at an MSRP of 185.00 euros plus VAT. For more details, visit the manufacturer’s product website.
