QNAP TVS-h874: NAS with Intel Core i9-12900 and two times 10 GbE

With the QNAP TVS-h874, the manufacturer has introduced a new, particularly powerful NAS. It relies on an Intel Core i9-12900 processor with 16 cores in the top model, offers two times 10 GbE and has a built-in display.

QNAP TVS-h874: New NAS in two variants

The new QNAP TVS-h874 NAS comes in two variants. Optionally with Core i7-12700 (TVS-h874-i7-32G) and twelve cores or even with the Core i9-12900 (TVS-h874X-i9-64G) from Intel, which offers a whole 16 cores. Thus, the NAS achieves impressive performances, which should especially benefit companies that want to use virtualizations directly on the device.

The addition of the name already indicates it: the small system is equipped with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM in dual-channel mode ex-factory, which can be expanded to a maximum of 64 GB of RAM. The larger model already has 64 GB of RAM installed ex-factory.

In addition, the larger top model offers a 10 Gigabit network card that is inserted into a PCIe Gen 4 x 4 slot and has two 10 Gigabit RJ45 LAN ports. The smaller model also has a 10 Gbit LAN port.

In addition, there are two further Gigabit LAN ports with speeds of up to 2.5 Gbit/s, as well as a whole eight hard drive bays, in which 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch storage solutions can be installed.

In addition, there are two M.2 slots for SSDs in M.2 2280 format, which are connected via PCIe Gen 4 x4 and can be used as SSD cache. In terms of ports, HDMI (with Full HD resolution display), two USB Type-C and two USB Type-A are available.

The integrated Intel OpenVINO and Intel UHD Graphics support AI image recognition and relieve the CPU.

Special enterprise-level protection

The QNAP TVS-h874 NAS is, of course, aimed primarily at businesses and offers some particularly exciting features here. For example, the customized and especially secure ZFS-based operating system QuTS hero offers WORM folders (“Write Once, Read Many”).

This means that created folders can neither be changed nor deleted for a predefined period of time and protect the data stored there from manipulation.

Price and Availability

The manufacturer has not yet revealed when exactly both models of the QNAP TVS-h874 will be available. The product website also doesn’t provide any further details about this and the prices. However, retailer Cyberport already lists both NAS systems. The TVS-h874-i7-32G at a price of 3,331.00 euros, the TVS-h874X-i9-64G for 4,283.00 euros.
