QWIC Premium i Auto: e-bike with automatic gearshift presented

QWIC Premium has presented a new e-bike with the i Auto, which is to convince especially with its automatic stepless shifting. The appropriate gear is determined automatically based on the target speed, so that a relaxed ride should be possible at any time.

Hub gears with speed adjustment

Those who use the e-bike have the option of manually setting the desired target speed. Thereupon, the bike automatically adjusts its gear setting, taking into account not only the target speed but also the cadence. This represents a unique selling point compared to the vast majority of competing products, including the new e-bikes from Shell or those from Gazelle. The shift range of the hub gears is 310 percent, which should be particularly advantageous when riding uphill as well as when starting off.

Also present are a rotation sensor and a force sensor. The force sensor helps to determine the optimal pedaling assistance for the person currently riding. The more leg power is used, the less the pedal assistance will intervene. This – like the automatic gearshift – is intended to ensure a particularly pleasant riding experience.

The bike is powered by a mid-mounted motor that delivers either 65 (i Auto) or 80 (i+ Auto) Nm, depending on the variant, and by a chain that is located behind a chain guard box. In addition, there are hydraulic disc brakes, a suspension fork with lockout function, and a 400-watt battery that is integrated into the frame of the bike and is supposed to last for an average of 70 kilometers. For a surcharge of 270 euros, a 540-watt battery with a longer holding time can be installed. In either case, there is a color display that shows the charge level. The weight of the e-bike is about 25 kilograms without the battery.

Price and availability

Both variants are available now in high and low entry frame versions. They cost at least 3,249 euros in the i variant. The i+ variant will cost around 3,500 Euros.
