Raptor 27: Razer introduces first THX-certified monitor

With the Raptor 27, Razer has presented its latest monitor, which is the first screen with THX certification available on the market. Accordingly, the picture quality is supposed to be outstanding.

Certified picture quality

The THX certificate is awarded by THX Ltd. and goes back to director George Lucas. So far, it is mainly widespread in the cinema and home theater sector and certifies the certified devices or halls, very high quality standards in the areas of image, sound and (for cinema halls) freedom from interference sources. The certification of a PC screen represents a novelty. The awarding of the seal was preceded by extensive tests, as is the case with all other certified devices and equipment. Interested parties can therefore look forward to outstanding picture quality, far above-average detail and excellent contrast.

Specifically, the wide-angle IPS display offers a refresh rate of 165 Hz, QHD resolution, 95% DCI-P3 coverage and HDR-400 standard. In addition, the display can boast FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility as well as a response time of one millisecond.

Classic Design

In terms of design, on the other hand, Razer does not dare to experiment and is strongly oriented towards the predecessor models. Accordingly, the new screen rests on an aluminum base, features a matte black finish and has a fabric texturing on the back. It also wants to score with a cable management system and Chroma RGB lighting. The RGB lighting is freely adjustable; 16.8 million colors are available. Synchronization with other Synpase 3 devices in terms of color and effects is also possible. Meanwhile, a VESA mount is not included, but can be purchased separately.

Prices and availability

All of this comes at a price: Razer is calling for the new Raptor 27 999.99 euros. The VESA mount costs an additional 99 euros. The monitor is supposed to be available from the manufacturer as well as from selected other companies starting in the third quarter.
