Realme 8i: New smartphone with 120 Hz display and 50 MP triple camera leaked

The company has already proven several times that Realme can build high-quality smartphones at a low price. The realme GT and the realme 8 5G could set a scent mark in our tests. Apparently, however, we can already expect a new model called realme 8i shortly, which comes up with strong specs.

Realme 8i as a real price breaker

At least, that’s what emerges from an extensive leak from @OnLeaks and Digit.in, which teases a new model in the manufacturer’s 8 series with the realme 8i. The smartphone is supposed to be released on September 11, 2021, and is the first device to use the new MediaTek Helio G96 processor.

The other features in the leaked spec sheet are also exciting. The realme 8i features a 6.59-inch, 120 Hz Full HD+ display with a fingerprint sensor on the side. This indicates that realme relies on an LCD display here.

The camera setup is also exciting. A 16-megapixel selfie camera sits in a punch hole at the front, while a 50-megapixel main camera is supposedly used at the back. This is supported by two 2 MP sensors and an LED flash.

The realme 8i is supposed to weigh 194 grams and offer an 8.6 millimeter thin case. It is equipped with 4 GB of working memory and 128 GB of system memory. The installed MediaTek Helio G96 relies on two powerful ARM Cortex-A76 cores with clock rates of up to 2.05 GHz, as well as six frugal Cortex-A55 cores.  The battery, which is charged via USB-C, is supposed to have a capacity of 5,000 mAh, but wireless charging is not installed. Instead, the smartphone relies on a 3.5 mm jack on the bottom.

Price and availability

The price is particularly exciting. According to the leak, the realme 8i will go on sale as early as September 11, 2021, at a price of the equivalent of around 130 euros. If the price is similarly low in this country, we are in for a real price-performance miracle.
