Ikea has launched a recall for several models of the VARMFRONT powerbank. Customers who own an Ikea powerbank should check whether their model is affected and stop using it if necessary, as there is an increased risk of fire due to a manufacturing defect.
Key points:
- VARMFRONT power banks with 10,400 mAh and 5,200 mAh are affected.
- The affected date stamps are 2313, 2316, 2318, 2319 and 2322.
- The date stamp is located on the bottom of the power bank.
- Ikea is offering a full refund of the purchase price.
Recall details and affected models
Ikea has determined that certain production batches of VARMFRONT power banks have an increased risk of fire. The affected models are the 10,400 mAh and 5,200 mAh models manufactured between calendar weeks 13 and 22 in 2023.
The exact date stamps are 2313, 2316, 2318, 2319 and 2322. This information can be found on the underside of the power bank.
“We have now learned that despite all due care, there is an increased risk of fire due to an isolated manufacturing defect,” says Ikea.
Identification and return process
To find out if your power bank is affected, look for the date stamp in the bottom right corner on the bottom of the power bank. If your powerbank has any of the above stamps, you should stop using it immediately and return it to Ikea. Ikea will refund the full purchase price and apologize for the inconvenience.
Measures and safety instructions
Especially during the current vacation season, Ikea warns against using the affected power banks when traveling or on a plane. It is important to return the devices immediately to avoid potential risks. Customers can obtain further information by calling Ikea on 0800-2255453.
