Shortly before the official launch of the Redmi Note 17 series on July 14, 2026, in China, Xiaomi itself has confirmed some key specifications of the Redmi Note 17 Pro. The focus is on a significantly larger battery and a brighter display.
9,000-mAh Battery and Faster Charging
According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 17 Pro features a 9,000-mAh battery—a clear improvement over the 7,000-mAh battery in its predecessor. Wired charging power has increased from 45 to 67 watts. Xiaomi has thus officially confirmed a lower figure than what was most recently rumored about the Note 17 series —which had suggested 100-watt charging for the Pro model. The smartphone can also be used as a power bank for other devices via cable at 22.5 watts.
Xiaomi is also stepping up its long-term battery protection: If the battery capacity drops below 80 percent within the first five years of use, the manufacturer will replace the battery free of charge. It is not yet known whether this offer applies outside of China.
Bright OLED Display with Eye Protection Features
For the display, Xiaomi is using a flat screen that it describes as “flagship-level” with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. Xiaomi does not explicitly specify the exact panel technology, but reports indicate it is an OLED display. Several eye protection features have also been confirmed, including a special mode for low ambient light with a minimum brightness of just 1 nit.
Launch on July 14 in China
The entire Redmi Note 17 series will be unveiled on July 14, 2026, initially in China, with a global launch expected to follow shortly thereafter. In addition to the Redmi Note 17 Pro, Xiaomi is also planning a standard model as well as the higher-end Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, which, according to rumors, will feature an even larger 10,100-mAh battery and a 200-megapixel main camera.
