Reolink Video Doorbell: Smart doorbell with 2K+ resolution presented
With the new Reolink Video Doorbell, the manufacturer blows to the attack on Amazon subsidiary Ring, Eufy and Co. Visually, the smart Vieo doorbell reminds of the Amazon Blink model and comes with a 2K+ resolution, WLAN and PoW (Power over Ethernet).
The Reolink Video Doorbell in detail
Reolink has so far been known primarily for its smart surveillance cameras, of which we have already been able to test for ourselves, for example, the Argus Pro and the Argus 2. Now they introduced the Reolink Video Doorbell, their first smart doorbell.
It relies on a 2K+ resolution realized by a camera with a 5-MP resolution and is supposed to show a particularly wide image (180-degree field of view) of what’s happening at your front door. The smart video doorbell is offered either wired or wireless.
The wired model uses Power over Ethernet (PoE), which means you only need a single cable for the Internet connection and power supply. The wireless variant, on the other hand, transmits via Wi-Fi in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Both models are supposed to be easy to connect to an existing doorbell. The assembly takes place in each case with the help of two screws.
Smart features
Other benefits of the Reolink Video Doorbell include person detection and a customizable motion zone, both of which send notifications to the smartphone or other devices when people or motion are detected. A night mode with infrared LEDs is also available.
Of course, the device also has built-in microphones and a speaker to allow direct communication between outdoors and indoors. Even conversations with people at the front door should be possible via smartphone when you are not at home.
The smart doorbell even records videos before anything happens in front of the door. Already 6 seconds before an alarm, videos are recorded in color, which are optionally stored on a microSD card (up to a maximum of 256 GB), on the Reolink NVR or in the manufacturer’s cloud. The latter, however, is only possible with the Wi-Fi model.
.
The package also includes a chime (Reolink Chime) that can be placed on any power outlet independently of the doorbell. In addition, the video doorbell works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa to display the image on other smart home devices via voice control.
Price and Availability
The Reolink Video Doorbell can be ordered now directly from the manufacturer. It starts at an MSRP of 109.99 euros for the PoE version, while the wireless Wi-Fi model comes in at 119.99 euros. An imminent availability at the mail-order company Amazon is also likely.
