Roborock S8: New robot vacuum cleaner goes on sale March 16

The successor to the Roborock S7 (our review) is in the starting blocks. The new Roborock S8 is the first model in the new series to go on sale. Already from March 16, the vacuum robot will be available in stores.

At CES 2023, the Xiaomi subsidiary had officially unveiled the Roborock S8, as well as the two models S8+ and S8 Ultra. The S8 is now the first to go on sale and will be available from March 16.

This is a classic vacuuming and mopping robot with a matching charging station.  One of the new features is a double roller on the underside, which is made up of two main brushes that do without classic bristles. Instead, they are made entirely of rubber, which should once again make them easy to maintain.

In addition to the brushes, Roborock has also improved the wiping unit. Admittedly, the manufacturer still relies on the “VibraRise” technology, where the mop plate could pick up even stubborn dirt from the floor well through vibrations. But in the S8 models, two motors now provide vibrations instead of one.

The S8 series has Roborock’s strongest suction power to date at 6,000 Pa. Added to that is the manufacturer’s latest 3D obstacle detection and avoidance, which allows the Roborock S8 to detect objects in its path and go around them.

The mop automatically raises when cleaning carpets thanks to VibraRise and scrubs floors at a frequency of 3,000 movements per minute using sonic mopping technology.

Price and Availability

The Roborock S8 will be available for purchase on March 16, 2023. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price is €699. Otto, on the other hand, already lists the vacuum robot for 549.00 euros, while on Amazon there is currently no price to be seen.
